What happens when children become urban designers? Children in the Kampung Baru neighborhood of Solo had the opportunity to redesign their school streets and came up with brilliant ideas such as painting streets, a more comfortable school waiting area, and colorful murals. Take a look at the results from the Sukaria Street for Kids project, one of Kota Kita Foundation's public space projects that has been nominated as a finalist on the Best Practice in Citizen Participation at the 2024 #IOPDAward. It was an honor to welcome the British Ambassador to Indonesia UK in Indonesia - British Embassy Jakarta Dominic Jermey to Kota Kita's office in Solo on Friday, 10 May 2024. We shared about Kota Kita's work in promoting more inclusive and climate-resilient urban development in Indonesia, which has been supported by the UK government and institutions. One of them is through the Future Cities - UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) program, in which Kota Kita, together with Arup Indonesia Arup, have been working to promote inclusive low-carbon transport by improving services for vulnerable groups in Semarang and Makassar. Over the years, Kota Kita has also worked closely with various institutions from the UK such as University College London The Bartlett Development Planning Unit, UCL, Global Disability Innovation Hub, and the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED). Thank you for the interesting discussion and the support for Kota Kita thus far. We hope this meeting will open up new opportunities for productive collaborative efforts! #UKIndonesia #KotaKita
