【Cyberport and Zhongguancun Science City Ltd Sign MoU to Jointly Promote Deepened Technology and Innovation Exchange and Co-operation】   Cyberport today (17 July) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with #ZhongguancunScienceCityLtd. The two parties will leverage their respective resource advantages to jointly promote exchange and co-operation between the innovation and technology (I&T) ecosystems of Hong Kong and Haidian District, Beijing. They aim to facilitate the implementation of I&T projects in both markets and jointly promote the integration of innovation and industrial development.   The MoU covers three main areas, which include selecting and serving projects based on the co-operation needs of both parties; and facilitating the landing of suitable projects from Hong Kong in Zhongguancun Science City; assisting enterprises in Zhongguancun Science City to explore the Hong Kong market; arranging visits and connecting with potential partners to help them expand into the Hong Kong market; organising innovative technology exchange activities, consolidating resources, and promoting exchange and collaboration between the two locations in the field of I&T.   As the flagship of Hong Kong's digital technology and an incubation hub for start-ups, Cyberport actively collaborates with I&T entities and institutions in Mainland China and globally. It is committed to fostering a thriving I&T ecosystem while fully playing its role as a ‘super-connector’. This co-operation will facilitate broader development opportunities for innovators and entrepreneurs in both regions, achieving complementary advantages and mutual benefits. 【 “Student Mentorship Programme on Innovation and Technology” Achievement Exhibition】15 Primary and Secondary School Teams Paired with Cyberport Start-ups to Enhance Projects and Ignite New Ideas The Achievement Exhibition of the “Student Mentorship Programme on Innovation and Technology” co-organised by Cyberport and the Hong Kong Education Bureau, was successfully held at Cyberport on 6 July. Under the guidance of Cyberport start-ups, 15 student teams from primary and secondary schools presented their innovative design solutions that address various social issues and competed for multiple awards. Teresa Chan, Deputy Secretary for Education, Duncan Chiu, Legislative Council Member (Technology and Innovation), and Ir Eric Chan, Chief Public Mission Officer of Cyberport, witnessed the innovative achievements of students as officiating guests.   The Achievement Exhibition highlighted the innovative power and unlimited potential of our next generation. During the three-month mentoring process, Cyberport start-ups worked closely with the student teams to accelerate the development of students’ finished products, providing them with professional guidance and technical support through workshops and face-to-face consultations. It allowed the students to achieve breakthroughs and improvements in their solutions. [SocTech Power, Tech for Good] FireAlert System Accurately Monitors Fires and Prevents Drain Blockages According to the Fire Services Department's figures, over 70% of fire alarms last year were false alarms. FireAlert Limited uses cloud technology to monitor fire alarm systems, addressing the issue of false alarms caused by poor Wi-Fi signals in traditional systems. It can accurately detect and instantly display the fire location, allowing staff to respond quickly. In addition, the increasing frequency of extreme weather in recent years has led to flooding in many areas. To help improve rainwater drainage systems, FireAlert has launched a drain blockage detection system. This system uses Lora sensors for constant monitoring and can immediately notify staff of any blockages to expedite cleaning. The system has already been adopted in housing estates that have experienced flooding incidents.
