Shooter‘s first season won’t be for the faint of heart. USA unveiled the upcoming drama’s first trailer Monday, a one-and-a-half minute, action-packed whirl through the heart-racing return of ex-sniper Bob Lee Swagger (Ryan Phillippe).
In the Bourne-style clip, the previously retired Swagger is forced to revisit his treacherous past after learning of a conspiracy to kill the president. He’s later pinned with the shooting, resulting in a high-thrill chase from the government.
The upcoming series is based on Stephen Hunter’s best-selling novel Point of Impact, which was previously adapted for the Mark Wahlberg-led 2007 film of the same name. Wahlberg serves as an executive producer, with Omar Epps (House) co-starring as Swagger’s former commanding officer Isaac Johnson, an ex-Marine now serving as a Secret Service agent who recruits Swagger for a covert operation.
USA also revealed the trailer for Falling Water, a mind-bending drama that centers around a trio of strangers sharing the same fateful dream. David Ajala (Fast & Furious 6), Will Yun Lee (Hawaii 5-0) and Lizzie Brochere (American Horror Story: Asylum) star, with executive production from Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead), Blake Masters (Brotherhood), and Henry Bromell (Homeland).
Shooter is set for a summer release, while Falling Water is slated to debut this fall.
