Together, we can achieve more 🤝 In 2023, we reached 1️⃣6️⃣.4️⃣ m people in 36 countries with our work. These people are now harvesting and generating more, which means they can feed themselves better, have clean drinking water, and fall ill less often. For children, this support means the opportunity for better physical and mental development – and, thus, better self-determination in their future. 🌱🍲🚀 This work would not be possible without the support of our private and institutional donors. Thank you very much! 💚 Together we will achieve #ZeroHunger! #AnnualReport2023 #HumanitarianAid #DevelopmentCooperation #NGO

Our planet has been at its limit for a long time 😥 Today is Earth Overshoot Day 2024. This means that we have used up all the natural resources that should have been available to us for the entire year. From now on, we are essentially living on credit; the Earth is at its limit. The way we are currently living, we would need not just one Earth, but 1.7 Earths. 🌎 The German Overshoot Day was even earlier, at the beginning of May! 😱 Each of us consumes resources and has an impact on the Earth Overshoot Day. Did you know that by reducing our food waste and adopting more sustainable habits, we can already make a significant difference? It's in our hands to make a change. 😉 Together, we can make a difference. Only by adjusting our lifestyle and informing others about this important day can we push back the Earth Overshoot Day. 🌱 #EarthOvershootDay #Sustainability #Welthungerhilfe

Where does WHH provide most of its aid? 🌍 In 2023, we provided the most support in these countries: 🇸🇸 South Sudan 🇸🇾🇹🇷 Syria/Turkey 🇺🇦 Ukraine 🇵🇰 Pakistan 🇦🇫 Afghanistan The majority of our work takes place in regions beset by conflict. In countries such as Afghanistan, South Sudan and the Central African Republic, poverty, hunger and conflict are intertwined and exacerbated by climate change. 🌪️ 🗨️ "We remain active even under challenging situations, such as the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan or the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria", says Welthungerhilfe Secretary General @Mathias Mogge. In our work, we strictly follow the humanitarian principles of neutrality, humanity, impartiality and independence❕ Adequate food is a human right. Despite all the bad news about disasters and conflicts, we can reach #ZeroHunger if there is the political will to create security, open up the scope for effective action, and provide resources. 💪🏽 🔎 Find out more about our work over the past year. The world is far off track to reach the target #ZeroHunger 🚨 In 2023 733 million people faced hunger worldwide❗ This means that one in 11 people go to bed hungry each night. Everyone has the right to adequate, sufficient and healthy food. Hunger is a solvable problem, because there is enough food for everyone and nobody in the world has to go hungry. We can overcome hunger if there is the political will. To reach our target we need effective and sufficient financing to transform our food systems with greater resilience to major drivers of food insecurity and malnutrition, including inequality ⚖️, conflicts 💥 and the climate crisis🌪️. To eliminate world hunger, our food system must change fundamentally at all levels − from the field to the plate. Our global food system must be fair, sustainable and crisis-proof. Together we can create a world without hunger and offer a better future to people worldwide! 🤝 #DevelopmentCooperation #LeaveNoOneBehind

A life without hunger is a human right and a world without hunger is possible❗ #ZeroHunger is the goal and to get closer to it, we implemented 6️⃣3️⃣0️⃣ projects in 3️⃣6️⃣ countries worldwide in 2023. In many countries where we work, we responded with emergency action in 2023 – but also with long-term approaches and a focus on innovative instruments and strategies. 💡🛠️ Our focus is on working with communities and other stakeholders to make food systems sustainable and resilient. In 2023, we made great progress in this area. As a result of this cooperation, many people were able to eat safely and healthily despite the climate crisis and conflict. 🍽️ We will continue to combine humanitarian action with sustainable development and peacebuilding approaches to end hunger for good. 🔗 #DevelopmentCooperation #HumanitarianAction #AnnualReport #NGO #SDG2

Sudan is currently facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world 🇸🇩 In many countries where we operated in 2023, we responded with emergency action. 🆘  The majority of our work takes place in regions beset by conflict. In countries such as Afghanistan, South Sudan and the Central African Republic, poverty, hunger and conflict are intertwined and exacerbated by climate change. Sudan has also been experiencing a humanitarian crisis for years, with extreme weather, political unrest and rising food prices exacerbating poverty, hunger and displacement. The armed clashes that broke out in April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) drastically exacerbated the situation. 🗨️ "Sudan, along with Gaza and parts of Ukraine, is one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes we are currently witnessing", says Welthungerhilfe Secretary General Mathias Mogge. Despite all the bad news about disasters and conflicts, we can overcome hunger if there is the political will to create security, open up the scope for effective action, and provide resources. Adequate food is a human right❗ 📖 In our annual report, we provide detailed information on how we worked towards the goal of #zerohunger in 2023: https://lnkd.in/eymX5ujc #AnnualReport2023 #Sudan #HumanitarianAid #DevelopmentCooperation

✍️📣 #LuftNachOben #WeltWeitWirksam #Entwicklungszusammenarbeit #HumanitäreHilfe  The ONE Campaign Aktion gegen den Hunger | Action Against Hunger terre des hommes Deutschland e.V. Welthungerhilfe under the microscope 🔬 Our annual report 2023 provides transparent insight into our work, explaining how it is financed and where and how donations are used. 📖 In 2023, we experienced massive crises, wars and disasters in many places, exacerbating hunger worldwide. The consequences of climate change can be felt everywhere and seen in the form of droughts, floods and other extreme weather events. The year was also marked by ongoing conflicts, including those in Sudan, Ukraine, and the Gaza Strip. ⚠️ 💚 In view of the ongoing global challenges, our special thanks go to our supporters because solidarity with people in need has not waned. In 2023, WHH supported around 16.4 million people in 36 countries with 630 international projects. Many people are now harvesting and generating more, which means they can feed themselves better, have clean drinking water, and fall ill less often. #AnnualReport2023 #ZeroHunger #HumanitarianAid #DevelopmentCooperation #Welthungerhilfe
