We are excited to welcome Kota Kinabalu 🇲🇾 to our SMMR family!! Our relationship with Kota Kinabalu started with our support to the development of the technical capabilities of the Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu through the Executive Education Programme organised by the The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative and the C40 Cities 🌏 On June 27th Azarel Chamorro and Sovan Sieng conducted an inaugural workshop involving over 50 key stakeholders from multiple sectors in Kota Kinabalu; bringing regional transport practises by Jacqueline Chang, AMC® from the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) and Mr. Zawawi Zukfily from WILLER The outcome of the workshop was the definition of specific measures to execute in line to achieve the goals of the "Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Report of Climate Change Actions 2024-2030" launched on the same day by the State of Sabah and the Major of Kota Kinabalu. These specific actions include: 🛝☕️ The development of a Placemaking strategy focusing on sustainable economic growth and wellness by reorganising public spaces at the street level 🚏🚲 Creation of physical and virtual mobility hubs to facilitate multimodal transport and enhance accessibility at neighbourhood level 📱🚌 Exploring the potential of #ridepooling and #MaaS as inclusive connectivity tools at the city level Thank you to the city of Kota Kinabalu for the warm welcome and especially to Elaine Chang for the coordination of the event. We are looking forward to the presentation of the results in our next workshop late this year 💪
