Prioritizing funds that incorporate an equity analysis and implementation strategies specifically for low-income and disadvantaged communities (LIDAC), and all federal investments across one or more of the following seven areas: climate change, clean energy and energy efficiency, clean transit, affordable and sustainable housing, training and workforce development, remediation and reduction of legacy pollution, and the development of critical clean water and wastewater infrastructure.

Community Connectors is an initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that provides support to small and mid-sized U.S. cities working to reconnect communities who have been separated or harmed by transportation infrastructure. In 2023, 15 communities across America were selected to join a cohort of peers, practitioners, and other cities to advance local infrastructure projects over the next two years. These teams also will receive capacity-building grants and technical assistance for their projects. As communities and local governments around the U.S. work together on creative, collaborative infrastructure projects that fundamentally shift the status quo, capacity building and technical assistance are critical to implementing and sustaining each project’s vision and benefits. But not all efforts have the funding to support the challenging work of building inclusive coalitions to address intersectional challenges.
