The new Q-EXA System, which connects classical #supercomputing with #quantumcomputing becomes a magnet for visitors. PushQuantum came with students. We thank for the interest and the profound questions. #quantencomputing, #quantum, #futurecomputing, #IT4Science, #discoverLRZ
+++ PushQuantum at the Leibniz supercomputing centre! +++ Last week, 30 students, members and guests of PushQuantum had the amazing opportunity to visit the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre and learn about integrating #quantum computers with classical high-performance computers. 🖥 After a warm welcome from Laura Schulz, Head of the department for Quantum Computing and Technologies, the team leaders Luigi Iapichino, Jorge Echavarria and Matt Tovey gave us an overview of the numerous activities at LRZ, not just as a supercomputing centre but also as a service provider and data centre for universities and research institutions in Bavaria. The proper visit followed shortly after, starting from the technical rooms with the cooling systems, to the servers and the SuperMUC-NG system, and finally arriving at the 20 qubits IQM Quantum Computers and the Quantum Integration Center, with systems from IQM and AQT Alpine Quantum Technologies. Some final talks by Burak Mete, Nathaniel Tornow, and Minh Chung brought the focus back to quantum computing, and the specific research in that area was carried out by and in collaboration with LRZ. Drinks and snacks accompanied us towards a relaxed end of the event, together with the LRZ crew. 🥂 Our most heartfelt thanks to all LRZ members who welcomed us to their institution and accompanied us during the visit; we hope to return soon! Last but not least, a final thanks to Patrick Hopf, who organised and made such a brilliant event possible. 🔝 Stay tuned for more exciting activities! 🚀
