INNOVATION DISTRICT GREATNESS… 32 is just a number, but when the corresponding number last year was 39, there is cause for celebration. We pop the cork for our partner Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen. Despite fierce global competition they just shot up seven spaces in this years’ global university ranking from the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. This means, that, out of a thousand universities world-wide, UCPH is still the best university in the Nordic countries, still number two in the European Union and now number seven in Europe, when you include the non-EU countries. If you agree with us, that strong research forms the best basis for an impactful start-up, this is yet more evidence that Copenhagen Science City is “Possibly the best place in Europe to launch or scale your innovation-based business”. #InnovationCPH

Germany is deriving economic strength and scientific leadership in many fields through a strong and unquestioned commitment to #research and #development. By means of a powerful and diverse research infrastructure, encompassing more than 400 universities next to non-university research organizations and research-driven companies, the groundwork for this remarkable success story has been laid out for many decades. At the core of this achievement are the four major non-university research organizations – Max Planck Society, the Leibniz-Gemeinschaft the Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, where in total nearly 120.000 dedicated scientists, engineers and master/PhD-students play a pivotal role from basic research to knowledge transfer to industry. In this context, I am thrilled to share the news of my recent appointment as a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering, acatech – Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften As an independent scientific academy, acatech plays an important role in advising policymakers and society on issues pertaining to scientific and technological policies and thus, exerting a significant influence in the German research landscape. In this capacity, I am looking forward to contributing to the further development of German science and engineering and its impact to society. This honor fills me with both pride and humbleness due to the large responsibility, but I am enthusiastic about embracing the challenges and opportunities that will undoubtedly arise in this new role. #Innovation #Research #Science #Technology #Engineering https://en.acatech.de
