💪 How to promote societal #resilience? This was the focus of Prof. Dr. Kerstin Cuhls and the entire team of the first IMMER workshop 👇 #foresight #scenarios #narratives
🟣 Exciting news from the IMMER lab! 🇩🇪🇫🇷 The first workshop of the IMMER lab took place on 4th July! Numerous stakeholders from the public and private sectors in the Upper Rhine region participated in the event and worked with "narratives" as tool to prepare for future challenges. 🤓 All participants exchanged views on three disaster scenarios that could affect the region in 2050: "Tsunami on the Rhine", "Blackout" and "Social collapse as a result of a pandemic". They analysed how the scenario starts, how it continues and then they all travelled back to the year 2025 and developed approaches to avoid the catastrophe in the present. 🎯 The goal of this "Future Café" approach was to raise awareness about extreme events and to inspire stakeholders to consider actions that could foster societal resilience. By the end of the day, a key insight emerged: despite their differences, all three scenarios shared similar social consequences. This emphasises that preparing for one scenario can enhance our ability to cope with others as well.
