Chuck and Fern: Within a fantasy videogame, a heroic swordsman and a D-List villain face an existential crisis but must push past it when a greater purpose calls. "Director Henry Alexander Kelly and I wanted to create a dichotomy of visual textures between the glossy high-key video game world and the darker gritty low-key real world of the little boy playing the game. In my mind, there was no other choice to achieve this than to shoot on the ALEXA Mini LF. Between the exceptional highlight response and the incredible low-light capabilities, the ALEXA Mini LF gave us the most flexibility when it came time to crafting our images. Henry and I aimed to make the video game portion of the film feel as immersive as possible, throwing the audience into the larger-than-life imagery of Chuck and Fern's digital existence. The larger frame size of the Mini LF does an incredible job of placing a viewer squarely in the action." – DP Adriel Gonzalez The film makes its world premiere L.A. Shorts International Film Festival on Friday July 26th at 3:15 pm PST. 👀Watch the trailer https://lnkd.in/dJU9kyUs Writer/Director: Henry Alexander Kelly Director of Photography: Adriel Gonzalez Original Score by Charlie Rosen Trailer by Calvin Chin Casting Director: Alan Luna Starring: Lorena Jorge,Mateo Mpinduzi-Mott, Adargiza De Los Santos, Grayson Fox BTS photo 1: Ellie Stills BTS photos 2 - 5: Max Fleury Producers: Gabe Figueroa, Eduardo Ayres Soares, Katherine Croft EPs: BY ASSOCIATION, Flawless Post Charlie Rosen, Harriet Cauthery, Jaime Davila Fiscal Sponsor: Q Youth Foundation Supported by: Sundance Institute AD: Luisa Novo 1st AC: Dean Maniuszko Key Grip: Collin Gallivan Gaffer: Adam Schaffer Captured with ALEXA Mini LF

Captured with ALEXA Mini LF, the German short film “Tempest” is a visual poem dedicated to individuality. With this project, director Gideon Merz shares a critical view on humans' constant urge for perfection, following the principle: Everybody is perfect—and nobody is. To illuminate this project, Merz and his team completely relied on SkyPanel X to find creative solutions for various looks. Interviewed by ARRI, Merz explains how they lit three different settings with five SkyPanel X23. “I wanted to revisit the past and create something that brings me close to my 8-year-old father. The outcome was this picture that explores his relationship with his neighbor. The innocence of a friendship against the backdrop of geopolitical chaos, that children can never understand nor relate to. It’s a film about a child coping with his first loss. To honestly portray the emotions of the young boy and how he views the world, the ALEXA 35 was our first choice, its low light performance and wide dynamic range capabilities allowed us to capture the ethereal details of Heliopolis, Cairo in the 1950s. There are multiple shots where the narrative progresses through the details we subtly see in the shadows, bringing physicality to what Nabil is going through. What was really unique is that the ARRI team worked with DP Evan Weidenkeller on custom-built textures inspired by Kodak 5222 B&W film that we applied to our imagery to establish an authentic mid-century look. We shot mostly on Ultra prime 8R (8mm) and Master Primes (12-16mm) to create an authentic look against the firmer 4:3 aspect ratio that we used for most parts of the film, to capture Nabil’s introspective view and his relationship with his friend Mireille as they both navigate an immensely alienating world.” -- Amir Youssef, director Project: 'Dawn Every Day' 👀 Watch the trailer: https://lnkd.in/drD344W3 Director: Amir Youssef Director of Photography: Evan Weidenkeller Captured on ALEXA 35 with ARRI/Zeiss Ultra prime 8R and Master Primes 12-16 mm 'Dawn Every Day' premieres tomorrow, July 10th, at the 36th Galway Film Fleadh in Ireland. #DawnEveryDay #capturedwithARRI #ARRI #ALEXA35 #filmfleadh #ultraprime #masterprime #فجر_كل_يوم #inspiringimages #stayinspired

"I believe that a camera should help make it as easy as possible for a filmmaker to achieve the look they want. That's what ARRI does so well. The goal of the film was to transport viewers back to a 70’s thriller aesthetic while incorporating our more modern visual influences into the image as well. It was never a question that we would be shooting on the Mini which in my opinion, no other sensor comes close to replicating the qualities of film quite like ALEXA. The wide dynamic range, color, and beautiful skin tone renditions were pivotal in building the look of the film. Low budget filmmaking is always tough, but I feel so confident when I have the support of ARRI on set. There were many days where we were shooting in intense weather conditions and pushing both the body and sensor of the camera. We shot in hail, rain, freezing temperatures, and extreme heat throughout this production. There were many times where we had to move fast and push the dynamic range of the camera. Never once did the Mini fail us." -- DP Ben Grant Project: "Dead Whisper” Director: Conor Soucy Director of Photography: Ben Grant CLTs: Rowan Lupton, Zachariah Suto KG: Owen King 1st AC: Clayton Potter Color: Tyler Roth Watch "Dead Whisper" NOW! Take a glimpse behind the scenes of “Ladies in Black,” shot on ALEXA 35 by cinematographer Simon Ozolins ACS and TRINITY operator Justin Besser. “We used the TRINITY often because the locations had a lot of desks and countertops, and we wanted to be able to glide over the top of them as we followed the actors in and around the sets,” says Simon. Set in the summer of 1959, “Ladies in Black” tells the story of shy 16-year-old Lisa, who starts a vacation job in a prestigious Sydney department store. As she works alongside a group of elegant and knowledgeable women known as the ladies in black, Lisa’s world expands, and she begins to dream beyond her sheltered life. #ARRI #ALEXA35 #TRINITY #capturedwithARRI #capturedwithALEXA35 #cinematography #behindthescenes

“I chose the ALEXA Mini LF for ‘Laatste Ronde’ because its larger sensor allowed me to fully exploit the unique characteristics of our vintage ARRI/Zeiss lenses. We even used a custom sensor crop for each lens, which helped us achieve the exact look we were aiming for. The compact design of the Mini LF was another significant factor because we had many scenes in tight shooting spaces. It allowed me to follow the actors closely and capture their performances more dynamically. We wanted to give the actors the freedom to move naturally. For interior scenes we placed our lights outside to create a natural light look; the Mini LF’s exceptional performance in low-light conditions was crucial for this, as well as for candlelit dinner scenes. It provided the flexibility for the actors to perform authentically without being restricted by artificial lighting setups.” - DP Dries Delputte SBC #ARRI #ALEXAMiniLF #stayinspired

Are you also already excited for this year's Terre di Cinema taking place in September 2024?😁 Throwing it back to 2022, DP Anna Bellettato giving us a behind the scenes at the International Cinematographer Days. Filmmakers from around the globe explored the world of LED lights, experimenting and working with tools like the ARRI Orbiter and its different softboxes for their short film productions. Anna Bellettato shared, "One of the best features that Orbiter has to offer is the possibility to choose among a variety of filters which are already incorporated in the light. One can very easily browse Orbiter's different filters and choose the most suitable color for their needs. I also really appreciate the softness of the light Orbiter can create when using the Chimera Octa 4." 📸 @Anna Bellettato #ARRI #ARRILighting #doplife #dplife #lightingequipment #professionallighting #ledlighting #filmlighting #ARRIOrbiter #chimera
