ONR Global hosted our annual orientation event this summer, welcoming 18 new team members. This year's attendees included six new Science Advisors joining various commands, as well as our new Technical Director, Dr. (Derrick) Marcus Tepaske; Comptroller Henry Creque; several ONR Department Heads; and other key leaders. The workshop provided an introduction to ONR Global and the broader Naval Research Enterprise, featuring presentations from Department Heads and specialized training for Science Advisors. We concluded with a tour of the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory – exploring projects in corrosion, space technologies, electronic warfare, warfighter performance and free space optics. The Pitch Evaluation Platform was conceived following a serendipitous coffe discussion with Scott Walper one of visionary clients from the Office of Naval Research Global (ONR Global) who expressed the need to spend more time with promising potential Principal Investigators (PI) and their teams and transform a manual process into a standardized digital workflow, thus saving time and resources. Ideateplus super-charged the idea evaluation by leveraging advanced artificial intelligence to dissect and understand the nuances of each submission and rigorously screen ideas by meticulously calculating and assigning scores to each idea based on a variety of criteria and requirements. As a result an end-to-end pitch evaluation workflow facilitates the evaluation management process (on average, 50 pitches processed overnight)

Prof. Scott Walper and Prof. Martina Siwek of the Office of Naval Research Global (ONR Global) paid a courtesy call to the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology of University of Nairobi Prof. John Onyari during their visit to the University of Nairobi. The Dean discussed in detail the ongoing research projects at the Faculty of Science and Technology and how the faculty can collaboratively work with the Office of Naval Research Global (ONR Global). On their part, Profs. Scott Walper and Professor Martina Siwek of the Office of Naval Research Global (ONR Global) shared the various opportunities available for the Staff and Students of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Nairobi.
