We've published our 2023 Sustainability Report, with a performance review of the 12-month period in the areas of environment, social and governance.    Our 2023 report reflects our passion to not just align with stakeholder expectations and navigate a complex regulatory landscape, but to make meaningful measurable changes that have a long-term positive impact on our guests, our employees and our planet.   Across the year, we have reduced our fleet's carbon intensity by 37.8% since 2008, launched our second LNG-powered ship, MSC Euribia, with a net zero greenhouse gas emissions maiden voyage, and further extended our partnership for eDNA analysis of seawater samples, informing our understanding of our waters.    We remain fully committed to our goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 for our fleet in line with the IMO’s strategy. In May, two of our MSC cadets, Eden Sutherland and Jamie Miller, joined the MSC Group delegation attending the UK Parliamentary Reception at the Palace of Westminster, where they met Ministers, MPs and figures from across the UK maritime community. Organised by the UK Chamber of Shipping, the reception provided a platform for discussion between policymakers and industry professionals. At the event, the UK Chamber of Shipping set out its vision for partnering with the next government, which includes inspiring and preparing the next generation of cadets for a career in maritime. Our flagship MSC Euribia has successfully connected to the shore power facility at the Ostuferhafen cruise terminal in the North German port of Kiel for the first time. Kiel’s local power grid supplied electricity for all of the vessel’s operations at berth to eliminate the ship’s direct emissions at the port with her engines switched off. Across our upcoming summer season, MSC Euribia is scheduled to use shore power up to 20 times in Kiel as she embarks on voyages across Northern European ports. Did you know? Alongside the MSC Foundation and NatureMetrics, we’ve been collecting DNA samples from across our cruise routes and are using the information to map the diverse wildlife in our marine environment. So far, we’ve documented over 4,500 distinct species! The programme’s goal is to survey the marine ecosystem and provide a harmonised biodiversity data layer that will support informed decision-making for the benefit of both people and nature. The research is an important step in protecting the rich diversity of marine life and marine practice for generations to come. True to one of our values of ‘Caring for People’, senior leaders from MSC Cruises’ ships and corporate offices have come together at the MSC Training Centre in Sorrento, Italy, for our Fleet Leadership Summit to exchange knowledge and experiences. The intensive event covered topics including Customer Centricity, Diversity & Inclusion and the latest departmental updates for the Captains, Chief Engineers and Hotel Directors present. Supporting a second MSC Cruises value of being in ‘Continuous Evolution’, the summit is an investment in our people, to identify best practice and improve leadership skills, so that we provide the best possible on board experience for our fantastic teams at sea.    We never stop learning 📈   And above all, we know that a happy crew = happy guests!
