Our flagship MSC Euribia has successfully connected to the shore power facility at the Ostuferhafen cruise terminal in the North German port of Kiel for the first time. Kiel’s local power grid supplied electricity for all of the vessel’s operations at berth to eliminate the ship’s direct emissions at the port with her engines switched off. Across our upcoming summer season, MSC Euribia is scheduled to use shore power up to 20 times in Kiel as she embarks on voyages across Northern European ports. This is amazing news! Local power supply will go a long way to alter emissions sources and edge us closer to net zero, once the capability to meet demand is there and proportion of energy that is renewables continues to rise. Not to mention local air quality!👏
