Jackie Joyner-Kersee, a true legend, is celebrated not only for her prowess on track and field but also for her relentless fight to break the gender glass ceiling. Beginning her career in an era marked by significant discrimination and inequities, Jackie’s determination and skill propelled her to become one of the greatest athletes of all time. 🔹 SIGA and Gender Equity in Sport Inspired by athletes such as Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Billie Jean King and other female leaders, SIGA is unwavering in its commitment to gender equity. The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) completed its recent Council meeting, which saw the unanimous approval of the 2024 SIGA Global Strategy & Action Plan, the 2024 SIGA Budget, the 2023 Annual Review of Activities, and the 2023 Accounts. In a year of stabilization, growth, and galvanization, the members of the SIGA Council were joined by the newly appointed co-chair of the SIGA Youth Council, Anca-Maria G., Research Manager of EPIC Global Solutions, and SIGA’s newly appointed Global COO, Dr. Iain Lindsay. Representing over 200 members, committed supporters, and partners globally, SIGA’s commitment to serving the needs and aspirations of its membership base whilst implementing its ambitious reform agenda has become synonymous with a highly impactful, trailblazing, inclusive, and accessible approach. This has seen exponential growth in members from around the world joining this unique organization. The newly approved Global Strategy, which charts their 2024 trajectory, promises to be even more impactful with the expansion of its membership base well underway and its’ influence as the world’s largest independent, neutral, and multi-stakeholder coalition dedicated to Sport Integrity assured to become ever greater. In the interests of transparency, all documentation will be made available on the SIGA website, following the Annual General Assembly taking place on 31st July 2024. Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, SIGA’s Global CEO and Council member, announced: “I commend my fellow Council members for unanimously endorsing and approving SIGA’s organizational and structural reforms and the positive evolution that this incredible organization has undertaken. SIGA is the only organization that is capable of ushering Sport into this new era.
