  • Strength in the face of adversity—that's the Invictus Way. This week, #TeamCanada is deep in training for both team and individual sports, gearing up for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. Starting their day with team sports, competitors came together to train for wheelchair rugby, basketball, and sitting volleyball. The camaraderie and teamwork in these sports not only build physical strength but also foster a sense of unity and collective spirit among the competitors. Next, they focused on individual sports, where competitors receive personalized coaching in swimming and indoor rowing. Through every stroke and every effort, Team Canada’s relentless determination drives them closer to their goals.

  • Happy Canada Day! As we gather to celebrate our nation's 157th birthday, let's take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices and dedication of our Canadian Armed Forces. Our military personnel, past and present, have played a crucial role in shaping the freedom and peace we cherish today. To our military families, your support and resilience are equally commendable. The strength you provide behind the scenes is invaluable and deeply appreciated. Celebrations are scheduled from coast to coast to coast today. People in Newfoundland and Labrador will mark Memorial Day and prepare to entomb its Unknown Soldier in solemn ceremony of remembrance. Learn more https://lnkd.in/gmT22z3H

  • For 100 years, the Newfoundland National War Memorial, which is one of only two national war memorials in Canada, has been a somber reminder of the valiant contributions that Newfoundlanders and Labradorians made during armed conflicts since the First World War. Tomorrow, July 1, 2024, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians will proudly gather at the National War Memorial in St. John’s to mark the memorial’s centennial anniversary. The historic event will include the laying to rest of an unknown Newfoundland First World War soldier whose remains are being repatriated from Northern France. Read more on the repatriation here https://bit.ly/4co4cmm Plus, here's a breakdown of how you can participate, the history of the monument and where the tomb for the soldier will be https://bit.ly/4bolYEF

  • Last night, our CEO Nick Booth had the honour of attending the in-person Heroes Among Us event at the Hockey Hall of Fame. It was a heartfelt evening of story telling, recognition, acknowledgement, and accolades for those who have served, connecting them back to community.   Keeping our history alive is crucial – whether it’s from the beaches of Normandy, the trenches of Beaumont-Hamel, or the mountains and deserts of Afghanistan. The Post’s “Heroes Among Us” series is performing a valuable role by sharing those human stories from the frontline with an audience that may not know the depths of commitment shown both in peace and in conflict by the members of Canada’s Armed Forces.    It is a crucial part of what True Patriot Love does – to ensure the public has that strong connection to our military, to ensure we remember and because service can come at a cost. We all rely upon a volunteer military, and we have a moral and societal obligation to support those who may require our help following their service. Our thanks to Postmedia and Editor in Chief Rob Roberts , Kevin Reed, Anthony Wilson-Smith of Historica Canada. And to long time friend and supporter General (Retired) Rick Hillier whose passion and dedication made this event possible. A final thank you to everyone who attended last night and especially to the serving members and Veterans who joined us. Together, we will continue to honour those who fought in the past while supporting those who serve today.

  • Today is PTSD Awareness Day. Let's take a moment to recognize the strength and resilience of those living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. PTSD can affect anyone, and it's crucial that we offer our support and understanding to those who are struggling. Remember, healing is not a linear journey, and every step forward is a victory. Together, we can break the stigma and create a compassionate community. We had a chance to catch up with Veteran Natalie Forcier about how True Patriot Love Women’s Expedition to Baffin Island impacted her life and why she continues to support True Patriot Love.
