How important are narratives for post traumatic growth in military members and Veterans? Constructing narratives is one of the primary ways humans make sense of the world and assign meaning to events. In a recent study by Grimm et al., members of the New Zealand Defence Force retold their experiences by adopting the quest narrative — “humanity’s oldest structure” — of the call to change, rejecting the call, suffering and transformation, followed by the renewal of relationships based on a new understanding. Can investigating well-being help improve the mental health of Veterans? Well-being is a concept that may offer a broader way to capture mental health. A recent study by Biscoe and Murphy discussed how well-being may capture Veteran health in a way that is separate from any single diagnosis, meaning outcomes for Veterans with complex needs who require a range of support can be compared. Results highlighted the relevance of positive mental health, as opposed to mental ill health. Learn more about how studying well-being can help improve the mental health of Veterans: https://lnkd.in/gB2qQaha --- L'étude du bien-être peut-elle contribuer à améliorer la santé mentale des vétéran(e)s ?
