About us

Saint Luke's Place is a Charitable, Non Profit, Accredited Long Term Care Facility and Seniors' Community that became a reality as the result of a desire to serve seniors in the Cambridge community. A volunteer Board was established in 1972, the organization incorporated under the Charitable Institutions Act in 1974 and the first phase of the facility was constructed in 1976. This phase consisted of seventy four apartments and eighty long term care beds. Subsequently, in the early eighties, fifty eight more apartments were built, and finally thirty four more long term care beds and a retirement home were added in the late eighties. We gratefully acknowledge our roots as a visionary outreach project by our community for our community. Saint Luke's Place is governed by an independent Board of Directors comprised of skilled and dedicated community volunteers. As a charitable, non-profit, non-denominational organization, we celebrate diversity and we welcome everyone. Over the years, Saint Luke's Place has broadened the services offered to include a Seniors Active Living Centre (formerly Elderly Persons' Centre) complete with a coffee shop, tuck shop, therapeutic swimming pool, and a billiards room. Saint Luke's Place is situated on almost seven acres with a beautifully landscaped accessible pathway encircling our facility. Saint Luke's Place is a Charitable, Non Profit, Accredited Long Term Care Facility and Seniors' Community that became a reality as the result of a desire to serve seniors in the Cambridge community. Saint Luke's Place has earned an excellent reputation within the Community and continually strives to improve and enhance the programs and services offered to provide the best possible quality of life for those who live and work here.

  • MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Saint Luke’s Place announces return of annual Walk and Roll fundraiser Cambridge, ON (May 22, 2024) – It’s time for the return of the Saint Luke’s Place annual community fundraising event that promotes the importance of long-term care. We invite the community to join us, as an individual or a team, in supporting our residents and tenants at our annual Walk and Roll at 9:30 am on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Saint Luke’s Place. During the event that runs until 1:00 pm, you will experience warm-ups hosted by Orange Theory Fitness, snow cones with the Cambridge RedHawks new ownership and fire smart fun for the kids with a City of Cambridge Fire Truck on site. Our Walk and Roll is a pledge-based, local event. The purpose of the ground, 2.5 km and 5 km walk is not only to raise much needed funds, but also to raise awareness of our seniors. Additionally, we want to highlight and celebrate the wonderful community we are a part of. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised at Walk and Roll will go directly back into Saint Luke’s Place programs, services, and equipment. “I am excited to be part of the team at Saint Luke’s Place,” says Amy Ross, Director of Fundraising and Development. “This is an historic fundraiser demonstrating the importance of seniors and long-term care to the entire community – especially the residents and tenants that call Saint Luke’s Place home. Starting it up again is incredibly meaningful and I couldn’t be happier to be participating with my son.” All are encouraged to visit https://lnkd.in/g6ASi5dg to register for the event. ### About Saint Luke’s Place Saint Luke's Place is a Charitable, Non-Profit, Accredited Long-Term Care Facility and Seniors' Community that became a reality as the result of a desire to serve seniors in the Cambridge community. • September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. On this day we honour the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. Widespread public commemoration and acknowledgement of the tragic and painful history, continued impact, and intergenerational trauma of Canada's residential school legacy is a vital component of the reconciliation process. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was formerly known as Orange Shirt Day, and it is still important that we wear orange on this day to show support. Orange was chosen in honour of Phyllis Webstad, a survivor of the St. Joseph Mission Residential School. On her first day, her new orange shirt given to her by her granny was stripped and stolen. We wear orange for all the children who had everything taken including their language, their culture, and for too many- their lives. #orangeshirtday #truthandreconciliation #honour #culture #children #saintlukesplacecambridge #survivor
