Great food is a passion for our executive chefs at Aspira Retirement Living. They use their skills to make residents happy and support their health and well-being. It’s no surprise that our talented team would want to reach out and help the community as well. Recently, the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation hosted their 8th annual Incredible Doctors’ Cook Off, raising an impressive $200,000 for a great cause. Aspira Island Park was proud to be a sponsor, with our very own Executive Chef Nikki Finkle participating as a competitor this year. Partnered alongside Dr. Kelly Parks, the dynamic duo worked hard to bring home the coveted award for Most Innovative Appetizer. Chef Nikki sourced local ingredients and herbs from Island Park’s own gardens to create a delicious braised beef with onion and bacon jelly on a crostini. We’re incredibly proud of Chef Nikki and the entire team at Aspira Island Park for their dedication and creativity, both in our kitchens and in the community. #AspiraRetirementLiving #vitaltothelocalcommunity #localingredients #innovativecuisine

What happens when you mix fun with meaningful work? The result is a great team member culture! Our Support Services Office team came together for our annual Summer BBQ. The day was filled with sunshine, laughter, and a shared commitment to giving back. We are thrilled to have raised over $1,000 through our BBQ fundraising efforts for the Sienna for Seniors Foundation! We also hosted a food drive, to support the local community. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and contributed. Your generosity and team spirit truly make Sienna a special place to work and show just how much we can achieve together. #SiennaSeniorLiving #CommunityImpact #Teamwork #SiennaForSeniors #GivingBack #SummerBBQ

We had a fantastic day in North Bay recently, celebrating numerous achievements at Sienna's Waters Edge and Northern Heights Communities. The energy, heart, laughter, and a few happy tears truly made it a day to remember. Nitin Jain, Sienna’s President and CEO, recognized Jennifer Edworthy, Resident and Family Engagement Coordinator, with the CEO Spot Award. Jennifer has led the Settle In program at the home, which welcomes new residents to the community. During a special gathering, she was presented with her Cultivating Excellence Owner (C.E.O) pin. We also celebrated our Sparkle winner, Elaine Lebold, Resident Council President, who continues to inspire us with her positivity and genuine caring for others at Waters Edge. A huge round of applause for two remarkable team members: Virginia, a PSW, and Dolores, Director of Dietary Services, who have completed an incredible 40 and 44 years of service, proving dedication knows no bounds when you work at a job you are passionate about. This day was made even more special by the legacy wall signing and a hard-hat tour of the Northern Heights Community. We were joined by special guests, the Hon. Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, and MPP for Nipissing, and the Hon. Minister Natalia Kusendova-Bashta, Minister for Long-Term Care, to mark the halfway point in the construction of the new 160-bed home that is set to open in spring 2025. Their support and involvement underscore the importance of community and collaboration in providing exceptional senior care. Thanks to the entire City of North Bay, from city officials to our partners in healthcare and education, for working with us to care for the region's seniors. #SiennaSeniorLiving #NorthernHeightsCommunity #WatersEdge #SeniorCare #CommunityMilestone #Teamwork #Leadership #CelebrateExcellence

For the second year in a row, team members and residents at Aspira Retirement Living have embraced sustainability initiatives in a simple yet impactful way by planting pollinator gardens. Pollinators, such as bees, butterflies, and birds, are essential to ecosystems and play a critical role in the world’s food production. By planting and maintaining pollinator gardens, we foster a shared sense of community and purpose across all of our retirement communities. #sustainablecommunities #pollinators #gardens #teamwork

At Sienna Senior Living, we believe in surrounding our residents with the care and support they need to live life to the fullest. Our Circle Approach to living is designed to do just that, and we are excited to be launching two pillars: Stimulate and Socialize. Recently, our Directors of Resident Programs gathered to dive deeper into these new pillars. They learned advanced techniques to further engage residents in developing a positive culture and to enhance the quality of family visits, providing a standardized approach across all our communities. We're also excited to introduce our new dedicated portal on our website for families, "Meaningful Visits." This resource is designed to help family members create joyful moments with their loved ones, making every visit special. Our first two pillars, Settle In and Savour It, focus on creating a welcoming environment and enriching the daily experiences of our residents. Settle In ensures that the move-in process is smooth and comforting for residents and their families, helping them feel at home from day one. Savour It is dedicated to enhancing the dining and culinary experience in long-term care, bringing joy and satisfaction to every meal. With the addition of Stimulate and Socialize, we're furthering our commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents. Together, we are building a community where residents can thrive, engage, and truly live life to the fullest. #seniorliving #longtermcare #careers #passionatwork #meaningfulwork

Every July 1st, Canadians at home and abroad come together to celebrate Canada Day, a day that commemorates our rich history and diversity. This special occasion holds a significant place in our hearts, particularly for Canadian seniors who have witnessed and contributed to our nation’s growth. Their efforts have been invaluable in shaping our infrastructure, values, and national identity. Canada Day is a day to reflect on the land we call home, Indigenous culture and history, and the future we want to create for the next generation.  In our latest blog, we share the perspectives of four inspiring seniors on what being Canadian means to them. 🍁 https://lnkd.in/gp-7Dswd

It's almost hard to imagine living to 109 years old, but Chiung Hi Chou, fondly known as Po Po, recently celebrated this incredible milestone birthday. Born in 1915 in Guangzhou, China, Po Po uprooted her life and moved halfway around the world to start anew in Toronto, Canada, in 1978. She quickly adapted, navigating a new city and learning to love North American food alongside traditional dishes. Her granddaughter fondly shares memories of growing up with Po Po and the legacy she has created. Chiung Hi Chou is a special member of the Rockcliffe Community, and we are privileged to care for her alongside her loving family: https://lnkd.in/gJYgGDJz Trina Maddox
