You may think it’s unbe-leaf-able to produce and micropropagate strawberries year-round in extreme climates. However, experts from our Aquatic and Crop Resource Development Research Centre and Replic8 Technologies are bringing a fresh perspective to developing formulations and processes to make it happen. Together, we’re measuring the photosynthetic rate of strawberry plants grown in a controlled environment chamber to gain valuable information about plant health and optimize growth conditions. With the goal of evaluating tissue culture media and environmental sensors for potential deployment in a mobile lab unit, the team hopes to develop a multi-crop production system that can thrive in extreme climates, all within a minimum viable footprint facility design.
