Current data collection practices in Canada's #digitalhealth systems largely misrepresent or underrepresent diversity across individuals' socio-demographic factors. This can lead to health inequalities and patients feeling unsafe when receiving care. #Interoperability is the only path to accessing comprehensive data about a person that addresses the full spectrum of health information needs for Canadians and their families, clinicians and care teams, health organizations, researchers and health system decision makers. CNO Leigh Chapman discusses the “Nursing Retention Toolkit: Improving the Working Lives of Nurses in Canada,” which provides a framework that can be utilized by employers and organizations to enhance the working conditions of nurses. #cdnhealth Canadian Nurses Association https://lnkd.in/dynmG2G8

The health system produces #inequities in access for #rural, remote and #Indigenous citizens and the providers who support them. #Geographicisolation creates complex challenges with provider availability and access, in addition to transportation to higher levels of care. This can result in delayed care, longer #waittimes and added costs for patients. Relationships and trust between patients and providers are essential enabling factors for quality care provision; however, many rural and remote communities have a revolving door of providers.
