Climate change disproportionately affects groups that already experience other forms of vulnerability or marginalization, including Indigenous Peoples, Black and racialized individuals, people with chronic health issues or disabilities, and people who identify as 2SLGBTQI+. This is why we are encouraging individuals from these and other diverse communities to apply to join the Net-Zero Advisory Body (NZAB). The NZAB develops independent advice for the Minister of Environment and Climate Change on Canada’s path to #NetZero emissions by 2050. And an Advisory Body that reflects many communities will put forward advice on a net-zero transition that benefits all Canadians. About us
Environment and Climate Change Canada informs Canadians about protecting and conserving our natural heritage and ensuring a clean, safe and sustainable environment for present and future generations. It achieves so through the implementation of the Pan-Canadian Framework on clean growth and climate change, engagement with our strategic partners (e.g., provinces, territories and Indigenous peoples), monitoring, science-based research, policy and regulatory development, and the enforcement of environmental laws.

We partnered with Nature Conservancy of Canada/Conservation de la nature Canada to conserve 97 hectares of Wabanaki (Acadian) forest in #NovaScotia. This project was made possible thanks to funding from the Target 1 Challenge Fund (administered by Government of Nova Scotia). This fund invests in projects that contribute to Canada’s network of protected and conserved areas across the country. This project also benefited from the generosity of Ann and Maurice Doucet, who donated property through the Ecological Gifts Program (EGP). EGP provides a way for Canadians with ecologically sensitive land to protect nature and leave a legacy for future generations, while receiving favorable tax benefits. The conserved area will help protect #SpeciesAtRisk like the Canada warbler and common nighthawk. 🍃 For more information: https://ow.ly/S27A50SFbGf 🍃 Discover the Canada Target 1 Challenge: https://ow.ly/eSAm50SFbGg 🍃 Read about the Ecological Gifts Program: https://ow.ly/ZaC350SFbGe #ProtectNature #EcoGifts #30by30 Photo credit: Mike Dembeck
