Kunal Phalpher, Cyclic's SVP of Corporate Development, joined the Congressional Offshore Wind Caucus last week for a roundtable discussion on the offshore wind supply chain. During the roundtable, Kunal highlighted the importance of magnet recycling to secure regional critical material supply chains for clean energy sectors and answered questions about Cyclic's capabilities and what more is needed to advance a circular supply chain in North America. Thank you to the Caucus, its co-chairs, Salud Carbajal, Anthony D'Esposito, Bobby Scott, Nick LaLota, Jimmy Panetta, and Deborah Ross, and members John Garamendi, Donald Norcross, and Chellie Pingree, for prioritizing a discussion on the materials needed to secure our energy supply chains, and for inviting Cyclic to participate in this important discussion. We hope this is just the first discussion of many on how magnet recycling can provide the critical materials needed to support the US energy transition.

✨ Day 2 of our 2024 REIA Annual Conference was filled with insightful discussions. From captivating keynote speeches to engaging panel discussions, we covered various topics. - Philippe Kehren, Solvay CEO, presented the company's involvement in the rare-earth sector, reflecting the evolution of progress and setting the stage for future approaches. He refelcted on the current market trends and mentioned that Solvay is open for colloboartion with potential partners to meet the market needs. - Thomas Kruemmer, Tim Harrison, Ramon Barua Costa, khan liu, Brett Hazelden and Darrin Campbell delved into the topic of heavy rare-earths and the challenges they face. The panel had a divergent view on the future demand of heavy rare earths and agreed that completely relying on the automotive sector as the main consumer would be a bit risky. Other sectors and new inventions could emerge as new demand drivers as well. - Amanda Lacaze, Lynas Rare Earths Ltd CEO, shared her expertise on navigating the future in the industry and provided guidance related to industry trends and future developments. - Gareth Hatch, Sean Medin, James Quinn, Francisco Morrone and David O'Brock discussed about new technologies for rare-earth separation. The discussion touched upon the commercial viability, scalability and other aspects of new technologies. - Caroline Messecar, Ahmad Ghahreman, William Dawes, Felipe Guerrero and Leonard Ansorge discussed the challenges of recycling rare earths. Rare-earths recycling faces several hurdles and finding waste could be the biggest one. - Daan de Jonge, Product Director at Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, delved into electric vehicles outlook. - Ronan Murphy, Editor at Argus Media, provided an update on the rare-earths supply chain. - Frédéric Carencotte, CARESTER Founder, talked about the CAREMAG project, focused on magnet recycling and extraction of heavy rare earths. Announcing the next milestone in our journey towards a sustainable and circular supply chain for rare earth elements! We have signed an agreement with Cyclic Materials for the supply of recycled mixed rare earth oxide (rMREO), with shipments starting in late 2024 and commercialization in 2025. This collaboration confirms the technical and commercial viability of Cyclic Materials’ rMREO product with Solvay's rare earth separation process. Together, we're creating a circular supply chain for rare earths, supporting the growing demand in electric vehicles, wind power, and electronics markets. This partnership aligns with our commitment to enhancing European self-sufficiency through our rare earths hub for permanent magnets in La Rochelle, France. 🧲 Rare Earth Mines, Magnets and Motors 2024 is shaping up to be an amazing event! Join us in Toronto this upcoming September. The conference will bring together major participants from across the mine-to-motor supply chain for high-caliber discussions on the state of emerging supply chains, the outlook for ex-China demand and the implications of evolving geopolitical forces. Key questions to be answered during the conference: • What are the implications of new U.S. tariffs on EVs and magnets? • Will tariffs on imports of Chinese EVs help or hinder western demand? • What are the latest innovations in magnetic materials and motor design? • What does the outlook hold for REE-free motors? • What role will recycling play in the future of supply? • How can policymakers help close gaps in the supply chain? Outside the scope of the daily conference program, there will be two evening networking events, including a private Welcome Reception at the Hockey Hall of Fame, to ensure ample time for participants to connect. 🚨 Space is limited, secure your place today. 📝 More information and registration: https://lnkd.in/gtKNyCbW
