Carbon Upcycling is a waste and carbon utilization company unlocking a new frontier of circular materials
About us
Carbon Upcycling is a waste and carbon utilization company unlocking a new frontier of circular materials. We’re tackling the biggest problems on the planet—like climate change and industrial waste. Applying our novel technology platform, we enable hard-to-decarbonize industry to transform local industrial byproducts and natural materials into superior additives. Our first massive market is concrete, the source of eight percent of global CO2 emissions and growing. Our novel technology reduces the carbon footprint of cement, sequesters carbon, and improves concrete performance. We do this by opening up a new class of locally available, carbon-sequestering cement replacements. With Carbon Upcycling, cement producers can now create a superior product using local industrial byproducts and natural materials and save the planet at the same time.

Our CEO, Apoorv Sinha, joined international leaders at the 30th Anniversary of the International Economic Forum of the Americas Montreal Event! We were honored to speak alongside industry leaders from L'Oréal Canada, NOVA Chemicals, Still Good ®, Université de l'Ontario français and Ville de Montréal during the “Adopting Circularity in North America: Seizing the Momentum” forum. Apoorv highlighted the importance of incentivizing a circular economy and reducing the never-ending stream of industrial waste through reuse of #CO2emissions and byproducts in hard-to-abate sectors. At Carbon Upcycling, we capture and utilize CO2 emissions to upcycle landfilled or soon-to-be industrial waste materials into a low-carbon alternative for cement, enabling a circular economy. Last week, Carbon Upcycling, along with members of the Portland Cement Association, gathered at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., to meet with members of Congress and discuss industrial decarbonization. It was an honour to share how carbon capture and utilization can be used to upcycle industrial waste materials into a low-carbon cement product. By using waste as a resource, we can bolster local supply chain resiliency while progressing the cement industry's net zero ambitions. Thank you to the PCA and all participating members of U.S. Congress. We look forward to working together to build a just future together. “There are about 3.5 billion tons of #emissions that come from the #cement and #concrete industry every year, 80% of these emissions come from just 3,000 cement plants in the world … We want to show that we can take different types of feedstocks and we can chemically activate them to lower the carbon emissions right at the source.” - CEO of Carbon Upcycling, Apoorv Sinha Apoorv sat down with Simon Leich from Leaders On A Mission podcast to discuss how we are addressing the root of concrete emissions, cement, by capturing and utilizing #CO2emissions to upcycle industrial waste byproducts into value for a circular economy. Thank you to Simon, for sharing our story. Listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/g7aJBZiV #CarbonUpcycling #CarbonUtilization

The demand for building materials is set to double by 2060. That's the equivalent of building one New York City every month. With the built environment accounting for ~40% of global emissions already, the challenge is not just to meet growing infrastructure demands but to do so more sustainably. As part of Greentown Labs' #GoBuild2023, we worked alongside global building materials leader Saint-Gobain North America to explore the use of our carbon capture and utilization technology to create high-performance alternative cement products. We look forward to continuing our work with Saint Gobain and Greentown Labs to Go Build a net zero tomorrow. Saint-Gobain #upcycling #ccus #carbontech
