Project Name: Brunswick’s Airport Fire Station

Description:  Replacement for the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Facility (ARFF) at Brunswick Golden Isles Airport. Description: Provide funding to build upon the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Network for Engineering With Nature (N-EWN) initiative, which supports the development and deployment of research, technical assistance, and training in nature-based and hybrid infrastructure solutions through a vast network of university, public and private sector, and non-profit organization partners. Natured-based solutions, in combination with conventional engineering, provide the most cost-effective, sustainable way to maintain Department of Defense readiness by protecting and enhancing the resilience of existing facilities to climate change and severe weather events, as well as planning and design for new facilities. Optimizing natural infrastructure to support the resistance, resilience, and/or recovery capacity of installations differs depending on location, climate hazard exposure, and sensitivity of missions and operations. Funding is requested to dramatically expand the scope and reach of N-EWN to provide additional bandwidth and support to a larger number of installations and communities across the nation to complete comprehensive installation assessments and resilience planning in built and natural infrastructure under altered climate conditions.
