    I'm Bas Brederode, a senior designer at the LEGO company. In my 16 years at the LEGO company I've worked in many different departments as Star Wars, Batman, Games, Friends, DC Super Hero Girls and a couple of themes that didn't make it to production. In the Dutch/Belgian edition of LEGO Masters I fulfill the role of Jury, aka the Brickmaster.

    For all of these sets I was responsible for finishing the final product. But to be honest, every LEGO set is a joint effort by the LEGO Design team that is responsible for the product line. On some sets I've mentioned other designers that have made a significant contribution to the product. Without them, the set wouldn't have been what it is today!

This is my first set together with 7668 Rebel Scout Speeder.

This vehicle is my own design and new to the STAR WARS universe. I imagined the Empire would need a small flying vehicle to quickly carry a small group of Stormtroopers and drop them off quickly - that's why the vehicle has a detachable platform at the back. Kids the platform because it moves around while flying.

This vehicle got a redesign for the 20th Year Anniversary of LEGO Star Wars, set 75262

This is my first set together with 7667 Imperial Dropship.

The Rebel Scout Speeder started out as a design for the the stormtrooper pack and is based on a vehicle I discovered in an old STAR WARS comic. Since the Imperial Dropship was the favored design for the Stormtrooper battle pack, this vehicle got confiscated by the Rebel Alliance.

One fun play feature is that you can detach the back of the vehicle as a turret, allowing the rebels to quickly set up a forward base.

This is the first LEGO game I designed where I also invented the gameplay and wrote the rules. I even did a rough design for the graphics of the figures; the stealth guy, the tough guy, the special agent and the veteran. Quite the development adventure!

This set posed an interesting challenge because it had to be at an angle, but also fold into the box. I dare to say probably the only set where a baseplate with SYSTEM bricks on top is supported by a TECHNIC frame.

Ninjago: The Board Game was an interesting game to develop. It was closely tied to the Ninjago product line and the only co-op game that we developed in LEGO Games. I was responsible for a large chunk of the the game design. Balancing the game was very difficult because it used 3 chance systems on top of each other; the die that determined movement, the spinner that determined the outcome of ninja fights and the random placement of the golden weapons in the temples.

Mini Taurus started out as an exploration game with an Egyptian setting where you had to navigate through a pyramid with revolving walls but was re-imagined into the travel version of Minotaurus. I was responsible for both the gameplay and set design. My kids and I still play this game!

I love this base. It was particularly difficult to realize the zip line from the concept model, making the model stable enough for the play the kids showed us during testing. I was also involved in the design of the vine element, defining the functionality and connectors at the ends.

The design of the vine element was done by Marco Barbiani.
