    The Return of The 501st?

Written by (AFOL , gold-rated reviewer) in United States,

I have two of these sets with plans to get a couple more. Honestly this is a remake I think of set 9488. You get special clone forces and a micro clone cannon.

501st Officer; the officer trooper has a regular clone 501st helmet with holes in the side, so you can attach his rangefinder. His torso is printed with his legions markings except that he has a blue belt and black Kama printing on his torso and legs. He carries two blaster pistols.

501st Sniper; the sniper has a regular helmet and face of a 501st trooper. Except that he comes with macrobinoculars to attach to his helmet. You also get an extra one in the set. His torso has special yellow markings on his left side of his chest plate. His arms are also blue instead of white. He has regular 501st legs. He is equipped with a rifle that has a black candle element added to the barrel.

501st Heavy Weapons Specialist; two of these minifigures come in this set. They have blue gunner markings on their helmets as well as blue visors. Their torso's have special blue markings denoting their rank in the Clone Army. They also have pauldrons printed on their torso. They also have a printed clone backpack you get an extra tile in this set as well. They have regular 501st legs. They are equipped with black ADU blasters with black binoculars added to the front.

The build is very straightforward you build a micro cannon that can fire a spring shooter at an opposing force. You have great playability in this set.

    Pros;

You get four clones for twenty bucks the going rate basically for a licensed minifigure today.

You get interesting equipment for your clone troopers.

    Cons;

    No opposing forces.

    Limited pitch on the cannon.

    Another 501st set.

Overall a good set. I am not really bothered by the new holes on the sides of the phase II clone helmets or LEGOs reluctance to remake cloth accessories for clones. What really bothers me is that LEGO is only releasing 501st clones why not some other Legions?

    Good Soldiers Follow Orders

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United Kingdom,

Apparently you can never have enough 501st troopers! Any chance to expand the ever-growing collection of clone trooper specialists is always welcome, and this battlepack comes with three new variants for the collection.

    Build and Parts

The build is more exciting than most battlepacks, in that it does try to recreate a real vehicle from the Star Wars Universe, in this case a scaled down Republic AV-7 cannon. It manages to pull this off despite its small scale in way that many larger sets fail to do, which has to be commended. As usual with a battlepack, the build goes together quickly, but does feature a few interesting parts and building techniques to create an accurate model at this scale. It is also armed with an inbuilt spring-loaded shooter, which as ever is surprisingly powerful.

    Minifigures

Like most other battlepacks, the highlight of 75345 is of course the minifigures! All four of the included figures are excellent and very detailed, based on the 501st's appearance in Battlefront II. Two heavy troopers are supplied, along with an officer and specialist. The specialist has to be the stand-out, with the newly designed helmet attachment being very useful. Despite some criticism, the placement of the accessories on all the figure's helmets look great in person, and really add to the level of accuracy. All the figures include a blaster suited to their role, a big improvement from the old stud shooters.

    Overall

A fantastic battlepack with a great selection of figures and a far better than average build. The only improvement could have been another unique trooper rather than two heavies, and possibly a lower price point considering the size of the model. Even so, this is a great supplement to 75280, and a much-needed addition to everyone's growing clown legions!

75345-1: 501st Clone Troopers Battle Pack

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

Honestly, this was a really dope looking set that I was pretty excited for. However, I would complain that Lego didn’t include the 2003 Clone Wars for their CW 20th anniversary campaign but included Battlefront, but I will not count that as a flaw due to it being a personal reason. Also not counting the helmet holes since I’m completely fine with them. But honestly, there’s a lot of exciting stuff to look forward to in this set.

In terms of building, it was pretty decent. I like how it’s a mini version of a tank shown in Clone Wars, so something unique. It comes with a spring loaded shooter which is neat. The legs can move it too easily at times so pay to mind. I did wish you can secure the clone on the seat, since it could easily fall off.

In terms of parts, oh boy, it’s very lovely! Macrobinoculars finally make their debut, though I do wish there was a printed black line so it’s less bland looking. The rangefinders and visors look lovely in the vibrant blue color. Also backpacks are a warming welcome, but I wish they gave us an extra neck bracket considering it comes with 3 printed tiles for the backpack (one is the extra piece). But overall, very happy with the cool pieces!

The minifigures I must say are pretty damn awesome! The officer looks great, with my favorite part is his two blasters and his blue belt. He does have a printed waistcape only on the front, which Lego should have done side leg printing or a cloth kama. The heavy trooper is by far my favorite! I absolutely love the top printing of the helmet and combined with the blue visor just looks so good! Also love the torso printing and that it wears a backpack. Not an issue per say, but I did wish one of them would hold a machine gun of sorts, that would be dope! The specialist looks great too! The binoculars look absolutely amazing on him and he has blue arms (which I prefer compared to the standard white arms)!

Overall, while not the best army builder, but still an awesome set to have with tons of lovely and useful parts, all for a good price. Definitely worth picking up, maybe even a few just simply for the cool parts.

    Good Set. Mediocre Battle Pack.

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United Kingdom,

This 501st Legion Battle Pack set is a fun and cheap way for children to grow their ranks of clone troopers quickly and cheaply, featuring a fun-sized but still faithful recreation of an AV-7 Cannon as seen in Star Wars The Clone Wars. It features a selection of nice accessories for you to customise your 501st legion to your exact specification including range finders, weapons, visors, backpacks, and macro binoculars.

If a child likes clone troopers, this set would be a slam dunk gift, no problems what-so-ever.

    However

For adult collectors and army building enthusiasts, this set has little appeal. The troopers featured in the set are not representative of those seen in The Clone Wars TV show or any of the films. They are taken from the Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) game's non-canon multiplayer mode.

This isn't a problem by any means. It does mean though that most are probably not going to want to fill any baseplates with this set.

The only problem I truly have with this set is that it feels like a wasted opportunity on two fronts for us adult collectors.

This set could have been made into a more expensive but larger and more detailed AV-7 Cannon build with the same figures, and it could have been a fantastic republic vehicle to add to the collection with a selection of interesting one-off figures.

In that same vein we could have seen this year's first battle pack slot used for more desired figures, clone or otherwise. The battle pack doesn't warrant its existence AS a battle pack. I don't need an army of officers, or heavies or specialists. They're great figures, but they're a wasted battle pack selection in my opinion.

But, all that said. My personal disappointment for this sets' failure in the grander scheme of things doesn't necessarily make this a bad set. It's high quality, fairly priced and features some great stuff for kids

    Pros:

    • 4x high quality clone troopers.
    • Highly customisable.
    • Solid mini-build of a recognisable vehicle.
    • Extra accessories and parts.

    Cons:

    • Clone Battle pack which features NO standard army buildable clone troopers.
    • Non-canon trooper designs will be a negative for certain collectors.
    • Disappointing wasted battle pack slot.

    501st battle pack part 2

Written by (TFOL) in United States,

I love the new macrobinoculars element for the sniper trooper and that new backpack print is impressive but I wish it were like a CAC-style pack and not a printed tile. I am a little disappointed that the officer does not have a cloth kama and that the cannon does not have a control panel and it is a little to small for the $20 price point but other than that it is a great add-on to the first 501st battle pack and a great army builder.
