Maybe those are chocolate coins and it's really Pirates Dessert Island.

They remade this set many times. It’s quite weird. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s a good money cheap kind of a set.

Anyone know what the 120277 number in the bottom right is for? It’s not visible on the image for 1476, that is a pack this set is a part of (and a very good pack at that, showcasing LEGO’s great original themes from the time!).

At least he's getting his essential minerals for the day!

This image is a scan of the instruction booklet, that's the document number.

I loved the crap out of that 5 set bonus pack!

Shark + parrot + pot of gold coins + pirate with small musket + small so cheap = This would've been a must have if I could have

By in United States,

Almost looks like the companion set of Jan 15th's RSoTD, 1696 Pirate Lookout. @Randomness: this is very much the perfect Pirates accessories pack. Perfect observation.

By in United States,

I miss when the parrots had printing like this instead of the weird tie dye color stuff they do with them now.

By in Australia,

Wish we still had sets like this. The 2008/2009 little box sets (eg Soldier's Arsenal, Pirate Survival, the construction worker with a small cement mixer, chef with BBQ stand etc.) were such great little sets, and perfect for kids with pocket money and so forth. Nowadays basically anything remotely sophisticated requires $400+ , while cheaper sets still cost like $20 or something just to get one car or whatever.
This is a great set, everything one needs for pirates. I like how the shark appears to be laughing at the pirate who is eating his gold. Maybe Lego was referring to that famous story/proverb of the King who wanted everything he touched to turn to gold but then he couldn't eat and he ended up turning his beloved daughter into gold or something like that.

Poor pirate. He's only got one shot, but a shark has taken interest in him, and that parrot is looking mighty hungry as well.

@Randomness:
A musket is a flintlock rifle with a long, straight barrel. Technically they've never made one. Both the "musket" and "flintlock pistol" are actually based on blunderbusses, which have flared barrels.

Today this would have a 12-page manual and cost $15.

The 5-in-1 pack this came in is the reason this Classic Space fan also has one random Pirate set. It was a good deal, though, if I recall. Probably intended to bring people into themes they weren't yet into. Didn't hurt that Space got two sets in that pack!

By in Canada,

Something I always wondered with the English language: how do you get an 'island' in a 'desert'...I mean, Dubai did it; in one of the silliest ways I ever heard of...:D

Gravatar
By in Canada,

This is a wonderful pirate set.

First off, the "island" is almost an exact duplicate of 1464 Pirate Lookout, my first ever set.

And more importantly, it came in a value pack that also had a Blacktron set. Really, can a Pirate set get better?

By in Turkey,

This is what I look for a set, great content and pocket friendly.

By in New Zealand,

I would like an Icons remake of this set please

LEGO: "Hey kids, don't know which theme you like best? Here, buy this and find out: 1476-1 "

What a weird, yet faszinating combo. Over here we never had such multi-theme combo packs. North-American regional exclusive. Just like the individual sets in this package.

But who does he eat first, the parrot or the shark?

He just brewing up a nice pot of gold bullion-bouillon?

Ba-dum-bump.

Pirates are friend, not food!

Well, this sure is a way to get a parrot, shark and set of coins without spending more than a little pocket money, eh?

I mean, we still have polybags at this size.

@Brickchap

We have sets like this today. They are called polybags. There are also magazine foil packs. And just a couple of months ago we had pirate VIP addon polybag. None of those have 12 page instructions or cost more than 6$.

By in Ireland,

I think he was the ship's cook. After taking heavy fire from Broadside's artillery the ship was sinking and he had just enough time to grab his favourite pan and a handful of loot before it slipped beneath the waves. He now has a bit of time to contemplate his life choices... with that shark circling!

Generous set. I must say that I'm slowly getting better at distinguishing between these because of the RSotD appearences. Even if they're all conceptually a deserted island with a pirate and varying amounts of accessories.

Good luck finding a polybag with a minifigure that isn't from City lately. Let alone one with theme-specific accessories. They are produced, but over here at least we get about 4 widespread ones a year, the majority of which are mini models made with common parts.
Magazine gifts 1) come with a kids magazine and 2) are pretty much random in which ones are available at any one time.

I miss Mixels which (when it started to consistently get sold over here in 2016) at least gave us a plethora of options that were present in every store. And they could be bought individually or you could buy a tribe and get a Max.

By in Netherlands,

I just rebuilt this set yesterday! Not much of a build, though, but the yellow plates are always nice to have. All the play value comes from the minifig and the shark. The parrot is a great bonus.

I wonder what discs he chose.

By in Switzerland,

Last year, I ordered 2000414 from LEGO.com, because I saw on the product image that it would contain several of these chrome gold coins.

Unfortunately, when I received it, it did not contain any of these and instead only had some of that part: https://brickset.com/parts/6329604/flat-tile-1x1-round-no-149 and some warm gold ingots. No chrome gold pieces.
Very disappointing

Fully agree.
I loved the Mixels. Pity I only found out about them when Series 4 arrived. But at least I've got each one of them since.

At present, it would be a polybag. Back in the 80's, it was our dream...many adventures with it.

Satirical content.

By in Norway,

@greenhorn - It seems to be (at least) two variants of the 2000414 set that hasn't been separated in the database, a 214-part version from 2010, and a 234-part one introduced more recently. Right now the pictures on lego.com and the parts list here shows the current set (may have been different when you ordered), while the main picture here still shows the original 214-part set.

A number of parts has been changed between the versions (presumably to fit current production) - chrome gold has been replaced with pearl gold/silver, the crown is replaced by a flower part, trans-blue round "comet" shell is now a trans-green octagonal "boulder" one, white pillar is now yellow girder, etc etc. Someone should update the database to reflect these differences.
