By in United States,

This is still on my wanted list after all these years. I remember seeing it in Toys R Us, and I've regretted never picking it up. It would look great in my Battle of Coruscant display and really add some much needed depth.

By in United States,

The wings on these ships never made sense to me. On an X-Wing, at least they spread out the cannons so you can target a larger volume of space with linked fire (a fact which I made great use of in the X-Wing games), but here there are just two cannons mounted to fixed wings. I’m assuming the fanned wings are meant to dissipate heat or something similar, since that’s actually a real concern with modern space missions (frigid in shadow, fried in sunlight).

And I did buy at least one copy of this, because I try to buy all the Minis from the six SW films (European foil packs have foiled those plans to a large degree, but this was available in the US somewhere).

Ah yes, the pelican of starfighters.

@PurpleDave: According to Wookieepedia, the S-foils were indeed for cooling.

Heat dispersion and better shield coverage.

It also looks cool, which is reason enough

@Jo3K3rr:
Heat dissipation I can get behind. Shield coverage? That sounds like some Star Trek pseudoscience. If you draw a line from the top of the cockpit to the tip of the main wing, I don’t think this extends past that. They’re also just flat flaps, so shield generation (after seeing the geodesic spheres on the ISD towers) raises an eyebrow painfully high.

@Mr__Thrawn:
By the time this film came out, we’d had a quarter century of X-Wings with cannons mounted on the tips of the S-foils, and a decade of Starfuries showing how dynamic space combat can be when you mount the engines out there instead. This felt like adding twenty buckles to a plain T-shirt just to jazz it up a bit.

Like MCLegoboy, I wish I had bought it when I saw it in stores. I like it but too bad I missed out.

@PurpleDave: Even for heat dispersion, we're not exactly talking realistic thermodynamics with anything in Star Wars!

When I see sets like these I ask "Isn't it time for transparent slopes?"

And it also sells toys, although we haven't seen a minifigure-scale LEGO rendition since 2010.

By in United Kingdom,

Is it supposed to have one wing cluster (the pilots RHS) one stud further back than the other?

By in United Kingdom,

I remember this one. Picked it up with 7250 back in the day.

Forget micro, mini, midi or minifig scale, lets bang the drum for ARC-170 UCS!

@AndyB1:
What? Oh, weird. No, instructions show the light-bley plates with the bars on them are mounted symmetrically. It must be a glitch with the CGI art I can’t remember the specific set, but I know this sort of thing has happened before.

According to Wookieepedia, there are more than 6 Star Wars films, but I don’t think facts — in-universe or otherwise — matter that much to this user.

There's always been more than 6 films. Caravan of Courage and Battle for Endor are always being forgotten...
