Real talk, how does such an obscure theme keep being selected? I know that we've had an article before "debunking" any bias, but still, so weird...

Clikits is fairly obscure, but it’s got tons of sets; in fact there’s more than 80 of them. For comparison, yesterday’s RSOTD was from Western, which had only 20 sets throughout its run , and if anything is more obscure than Clikits going solely by number of sets.

It's hilarious how the girls just reuse the same drawings from the other sets with hats and balloons added. The artist must have loathed the idea of having to expend any significant effort on Clikits. Every set from the original wave just used the same 3 illustrations.

However the girls did get redesigned with new outfits and poses in the following years. Edit: Brickset lies about Clikits ending in 2006. It actually lasted until 2008.

Now it's clear why Huwbot is giving this theme all this attention. Because it is being robbed of its history. There are even more sets that aren't in the database...

@Robot99:
It had a huge number of sets, all of them are/were eligible for selection (Friends and Ninjago also have tons of sets, but only the earliest ones have hit the 10yr mark* required for pool access), and people have been talking about it so much that people only notice if it’s a Clikits set. How long has it been since the previous time one popped up? I’ve got May 25, which was 58 days ago. Before that there was an actual run consisting of April 3, 10, 12, and 15, which is what triggers the conclusion that Clikits is constantly showing up, and reinforces that belief once it has set in. Before that, all the way back to February 17, and before that, aaaaaaall the way back to August 1. That’s 200 days apart, or nearly 7 months. How many people even noticed such a massive drought? For those keeping track, that’s a mere eight times in the past year. How many Bionicle sets in that time? Technic? I guarantee nobody batted an eye at the huge number of Town/City sets that we’ve seen over that span.

I’ve also debunked claims of ad break inflation. Traditionally, networks forced studios to make hour-long shows have six acts of roughly equal length, and half-hour shows would have three. This process carefully metered out the ad breaks. Modern shows try to fit them where the pacing of the story naturally creates pauses, which results in some being bunched up in quick succession. I’ve timed a few episodes to see when and how long the ad breaks hit. I’d find that an episode of The Walking Dead would often have the industry-standard 15 minutes for every hour, but that there might be one gap that lasted nearly half the episode, while 2-4 ad breaks might fall within a 15-20 minute stretch. That grouping would get viewers’ attention, but they’d get too engrossed in the story to notice the half-hour gap when it happened. I was timing the episode, and I think I had to use time stamps to compare the start and stop times because I was also getting caught up in the longer stretches of story.

I am wondering--did LEGO do any party favor sets earlier? I know they released a few, often with small Creator polybags during the middle of my TFOL years, but that's about it.

Honestly, the favors with this kinda suck, and its $20 in 20 years ago money.

I think LEGO is really finding a groove with Friends that they didn't with Scala, Belville, Clikits, et. al. Set designs are now so good, that they are far superior to most of the other non-licensed themes.

You gotta lick it, before we kick it. You gotta take that extra step so we can clickit. Boom dadada boom!

By in Germany,

I pitty those for whom Huwbot won't select Clikits sets anymore, once he had them all.

Even older than Clikits. <3

Friends and Ninjago are superior non-licensed themes

Never stop following your passions, Huwbot! Even if it's occasionally going back to Clickits for no statistically significant reason!

To be fair those are accesories. As in, real life objects like backpacks and handbags. I'm pretty sure Brickset's archive is incomplete on that stuff. After all, it would be harder to track stuff licensed by Lego, especially in earlier times.

It's clikits time! Makes me smile, I love how irked some people get when these pop up. Thanks Huwbot!

Even if they’re in the system, it’s Random Set of the Day, not Random Gear of the Day.

I'll say it. Clikits were a vibe and I was too immature and "ew girls" to appreciate them. Glad I'm not as squeamish about Dots and Friends because they're some of the best sets out today.

My favorite thing with Dots so far is the absolutely massive variety of printed 1x1 tiles that's come with it.

DOTS is what Clikits should've been in the first place.

And don't forget the Clikset site makeover one fine April day...

@oldfan:
That was a planned event that poked fun at the perception that Clikits got picked more than average. What I listed is just the dates of the random picks, though the spate of Clikits picks that immediately followed the next two weeks in April does look suspiciously like someone set a thumb on the scale.
