My favorite sets are ones with "pretty colors" (purples, pinks, aqua) like Friends, Elves, & Disney, not big on the mini dolls though. I like the new Supergirls & I like the mini dolls better in these sets.
Love the modular buildings, a completely different building experience, that just hooks you & leaves you wanting more. The same with the seasonal sets. Can't wait to see what they come up with next.
The Creator amusement parks sets are amazing & include some technic parts that bring the sets to life. I am not a Technic fan overall, but I do appreciate what the technic parts can do. Bringing movement to the bricks & pieces (which can also be motorized).
I like some Train sets, some City sets, some Speed Champion sets, as well as Collectible Minifigs.
I also like most sets that come from movies too.
I guess the sets or Themes that I don't like, would have been a much shorter list.
But of all the themes over the years, Harry Potter sets remain the most treasured.
HP books & then the movies, were one of the few things both of my kids liked equally well & I was also a fan.
I gave the first Hogwarts castle set to my son & then the second castle set to my daughter. They had collected most of the other HP sets, so getting the third castle caused a dilemma. I didn't want the third castle to cause any friction between them. So who should I give the third one to? That was when I became an official AFOL.
My first set I purchased for myself, was the third Hogwarts castle. Of course both of my kids helped me build it, (since they both had experience building their castle). They gave me tips & were so proud of themselves teaching me how to build my first LEGO set (too cute). A wonderful bonding experience.
My Hogwarts castle (referred to as Mom's castle) was probably the most played with set. As we all played with it, taking turns to recreate different story settings. Each of them adding in their different sets as needed.
