By in United States,

Space weekend continues! We've now hit the trifecta: Futuron, Blacktron, Space Police!

Don't get me wrong, I love Classic Space, but there's some about the 3 Faction Era, especially at the beginning that is just Chef's Kiss.

Well that would be a LEGO Space hat trick!

Ack! Look away, spoiler!

By in Canada,

Spoiler alert! It's got twin wings!

Also, it's the anti-Blacktron. White Black balance is there, but it's backwards. And wrong trans colours.

By in United Kingdom,

Swap the minifigure for a first generation white or red CS one and you could almost have a c. 1981 CS design.

If you don’t have this set - or even if you do - it’s fun to give the virtual 3D version a spin. Click on the set number in blue in Huwbot’s blurb above and then on ‘3D VIEW’.

By in United States,

Very nice selection of printed tiles. Kind of funky looking with the 'wings' extended but standing, it makes a nice sentry tower for your Futuron monorail/base

By in United Kingdom,

I had this! Love Futuron! All that trans was gorgeous for such a small set. And I love the zipper uniform.

Caution! Spoilers ahead!

By in Australia,

Space hat trick? What's Huwbot been up to this weekend?

By in Australia,

Darn it, I hoped I'd be the first person to get in a spoiler-alert joke. Alas.

By in Canada,

Those transparent red 4L bars were ubiquitous in space sets of the 80s, but looking it up I didn’t know they were decommissioned (aside from a service pak in ‘91) until a few Castle sets in ‘97 and ‘98 too. Then it died out completely and appeared only once again in 2014 in a LEGO Movie set. There is no flat top version!

As for this set, that guy is armed to the teeth: two cone artilleries, possibly the transparent blue studs represent some kind of rays rather than a light source, and he is even holding a weapon while flying! I think this set was designed to spoil Blacktron’s fun.

One of the rare Futuron sets I own! It always kind of annoyed me that the "wings" (such as they are) could extend out to the side, but they couldn't move forward and back when it was in walking mode. This was a fun little set though!

By in United States,

Finally. after all the Space stuff recently, one I had. Fun little set, but if you played too much with it in flight mode, the hinges would wear out from the constant load. There's a reason Lego doesn't make that style of hinge anymore...

You only beat me by about an hour...

By in United States,

I think this is one of the sets I passed on when I picked up Strategic Pursuer as a kid. I was pumped because it was birthday money and you can’t go wrong with more LEGO. I don’t regret that purchase at all.

3 Space sets in a row? Nice!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, this is a disappointment. You could have at least picked 6894, which is the only True Blacktron set that hasn’t been picked yet.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's adorable! The only drawback is I don't like the Futuron uniforms and that keeps it from being an A+ set. So it's an 'A' from me. Man, do I love old Space sets.

By in Germany,

Seeing any RSOTD with that "LEGOLAND" banner across the box art takes me right back to my childhood. A time when Regina personally cared for my extra brick and part and service needs. Or at least pretended to.
It just made TLG seem so relatable and friendly. And perhaps even quaint, but that was part of the charm back then.

In case you don't know who Regina is, just take a look at the back of any German LEGO catalogue from that era. :-)

By in Belgium,

Finally a Futuron set after the warm-up of last two days :-) This is the best era of Lego Space: Futuron, Blacktron, and Space Police are full of amazing sets by themselves, and also amazingly tie together with researchers/explorers, villains, and heroes roles.

By in United Kingdom,

It seems Huwbot has got a bit of space debris stuck in it's circuits :)

Whooshing over just to tell us that Snape killed Dumbledore. With that megaphone just to make sure we all hear

In space, no one can hear you spoil.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

You just gotta love these small space sets! I didn't have this one, but I do have so many more similar sized sets that had come before. The variation Lego managed to make with such a small number of pieces is just wonderful. And even better: the boxes back then showed inspiration for even more builds. Endless creativity.

But that's a single winged spoiler. A twin winged spoiler is like saying "so-and-so wins the Hunger Games" because it's especially nasty, because you know that the winner is the sole survivor, also spoiling the deaths of all the other tributes. And yeah, I just invented that definition because ever since I saw this set name I thought "ok, so what is a Twin-Winged other type of spoiler?"

By in United States,

This is my favorite era - Futuron, SP1, M:Tron, and OG Blacktron.

I didn't have this one, but my neighbor did. It may have been my introduction to Futuron minifigs, too.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I loved this era but never a fan of the arrow tiles.

By in Canada,

Hmm...must of been built by the contractor with the lowest bid, I mean: the operator (would you call him a pilot) is holding his gun instead of the controls. Yes, yes, I know: 'the controller are mirrored'...maybe, but one should still '10 and 2' whenever possible:). Also, yes the 'Scout Trooper' in RotJ did use his blaster; but his target (Leia) was lateral to his, not in front. This guy's firing ahead...must not have a weapon system on that thing...

By in United States,

Love this set. Was swooshed much as a child. It's on my space shelf still!

By in United States,

I was over the moon when this set showed up in the Summer 1992 Shop At Home catalog, giving me the opportunity to collect something from a from a wonderful era I had missed. Despite being so small, I awarded it outsize significance in my Space saga.

Oh, if only I'd had another $35 to buy that beautiful 6954 Blacktron Renegade that was in the same catalog!

By in United States,

Not much more than a parts pack (but it's a nice parts pack!). I'm not a huge fan of many of the smaller Futuron designs. The larger sets in the line seem to be a bit more, pardon the pun, put together.
