I find it funny that the sentry is still guarding the jail cell. I mean, it’s not like the prisoner is going anywhere...

@Your future president You're looking too deeply into these images of the sets...again.

Didn't know about this set existence... Looks very cool and playable! Classic castle is so underrated!

Cool Playset! Hey Lego, I would buy this!

^ Those classic castle skeletons were both mischievous and animated... who knows what trouble they would get into otherwise!

By in Puerto Rico,

Skeleton armies eventually fought back!
Classic castle sets were my favorite, pity they were discontinued. Nexo doesn't count as castle to me. Have very few dark forest sets. Like the base with the path on this one, but apparently, the set is mostly the base, can't really see where 464 parts go. Going to have to check on the parts-list/instructions...

Man, oh man! Thanks for another trip down memory lane. This was a wonderful set. I remember getting it while visiting my Mammaw in the summer of '96. I loved the Robin Hood feel of it, and always had a lot of great battles between these guys and the King's Guard. I love everything about this one. I miss classic castle. Maybe we will get a revival one day.

By in Japan,

I found it a couple of years ago in a thrift store with just a couple of pieces missing for $30.
I was happy. :-)

By in Finland,

This set is incredibly expensive on Bricklink nowadays. I wonder why exactly? After all, Dark Forest wasn't a very popular subtheme and this set was also built on a raised baseplate. The number of pieces isn't very large either. Maybe it's simply because of the minimal amount of sets released for Dark Forest.
I was kind of planning on getting this one day, but with the prices reaching well over $200 (or €200) it's not going to happen!

By in Netherlands,

Great set. I bought the set on BrickLink from someone in the UK. I am glad that I have all the Dark Forest sets.

By in Australia,

I never saw any of these Dark Forest sets in Australia, I'm not sure they were ever available here.

@TransNeonOrangeSpaceman the sets that are less “popular” when widely available tend to be more expensive after they are discontinued simply because there don’t end up being many put up for sale in the aftermarket. Couple that with a unique baseplate and it’s simple supply and demand in effect.

Awkward, that both dragon shields are in use. Funny story how I aquired the set. Must've been around 2002, someone over at 1000steine posted he bought the set in a little shop at the rhine river and that there is still another one. So I called the shop, reserved it, transferred the money to their bank account and got it shipped to me. Still MISB in my collection!

By in Netherlands,

Bring back Castle, and especially this version of Castle. Be still my beating heart.

By in Netherlands,

They only made three "dark forest" sets. That is not much for a theme.

Not sure why everyone likes this quite so much. I mean, it's kind of cool with an interesting layout but there's lots of big pieces and the reliance on a huge baseplate for detail makes it seem quite sparse to be honest. Guess producing anything of that size with actual bricks would have skyrocketed the price...

Totally agree jol, this is a bit of a weird set that just looks a bit slapped together to me.

I didn't know about this set. In fact, I can't recall this 'dark forest' theme. That tree on the right doesn't make any sense.

By in United Kingdom,

wait, is that one dragon knight helping to load the catapult that going to be launched at the dragon knight carriage? who's side is he on!

Gravatar
By in United States,

It is a neat set, but definitely doesn’t make any sense. Since the theme had very few sets, it probably was getting rid of other pieces. Although they did come up wh some new wanted figure prints.

Definitely odd they are using Black knight shield and dungeon/dragon (I’ve heard it both ways) masters shield.

Either way, I have been building childhood sets in new updated versions and this could be an interesting choice. But that tree on the right side...how do they even get the prisoner up there?

By in Spain,

A good Castle set!! It is a pity that it was a limited release, and therefore, the price in the second market is so high!!!

I always thought that this was a cool set. My good friend had it when I was a kid and now I have it. Brought back a lot of fun memories. I miss classic castle sets.

@Sethro3 seeing as that prisoner is long since deceased, I'm thinking he was first incarcerated in the prison cell when the tree was much shorter and near to the ground, now grown over time to it's current height.

Keep in mind it is the Dark Forest, full of peril and ancient magic, where the foliage has been rumored to grow at an unprecedented rate.

Classic set, that entire period of Castle had some solid builds.
