By in Australia,

I just find it funny how, about now, minifigs were getting eye-brows, but pupils were still a few years away, for most.

I will always maintain that this was a better head for the Tusken Raiders than the new special mold. Accuracy in the new one, sure, but the scale looks off.

Also, kind of a dark thing to replicate in LEGO. It doesn't get specific in the set, but we obviously know what you're supposed to do.

Eyy, I had this as a kid! I think I still have the minifigs lying around, in fact...

I remember the day I bought this set. I was at Kay Bee Toys in Evansville, Indiana and was leaving the store when I caught the display at the corner of my eye. It was pribably the first LEGO set that I bought for myself, and would eventually lead to the collection that I have today.

This set and the Qui-Gon vs Darth Maul are what got me back into LEGO. Still got em both!

By in United States,

I wonder if the first name of this set was Tusken Raider Extermination.

It is a bit crazy to realize that my little set, which I got for a single digit birthday, was released alongside the 10030: Imperial Star Destroyer.

Aah, good old yellow figures in a licensed set. Priceless...

"Comes with two rare dark red patio umbrella stands" - LEGO parts monkey

By in Norway,

I want a remake of this that comes with not just the men, but the women and the children too

By in Netherlands,

Haha, 'encounter', nice euphemism Lego.

By in United Kingdom,

They probably designed this set before the film came out, and were horrified when they realised what they had made

By in United Kingdom,

I'd like to see them remake this, regardless of the dodgy source material.

Kind of prefer these heads to the moulded ones we’ve had lately. Though maybe that’s just nostalgia talking, these prints do make the sand people look a bit buck toothed and derpy

By in United States,

This is a treasured set of mine since it was one of two I bought on the day of release for all Attack of the Clones-related merchandise on April 23, 2002. A lucky break for me, as my mom just happened to go to the store that day and that I had the cash to buy both this and "Jedi Duel", along with a Jango Fett action figure. I was so stoked (and spoiler-free) about everything I saw. As a result, I had NO CLUE that this set would refer to the darkest scene in the movie. I was mystified as to why Anakin would be back on Tatooine, but I figured this would be a scene in the movie where Anakin was defending the Lars moisture farm from a Tusken Raider raid. Boy, was I wrong!

The set is excellent. The speeder design is nifty and the moisture vaporator was necessary addition to the dearth of Tatooine structures extant in Lego Star Wars after three years as a theme. And of course, the Tusken Raider minifigures were gold. Still are, in my eyes. The new ones are too gaudy. These are still unique, and very treasured parts of my collection.

By in United States,

I have this set, and I also was a little surprised LEGO made a set based on such a scene. But it is an important part of Anakin’s slow walk to the Dark Side.

Given how popular Vader is, I sometimes wonder if people stop to really think about what he did.

By in Hungary,

I remember being over the moon when getting this as a birthday gift, not really grasping the context of the scene at the time. The tower build holds up well today, I remember using it and the tusken to expand Jabba's Palace the following year.

Combine this with the scene in one of the picture books where Anakin just locks all the Jedi Younglings in cages and LEGO's depiction of his decent into the darkside isn't nearly as dark.

And yet, LEGO was willing to put out BIONICLE, which among other things contained a scene where one of our heroes travels to an alternate reality and watches all the main characters of that reality mercilessly murder each other in vivid detail.

A bit of double standards going on on what counts as violence, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Ah, nice to see a familiar face! I don't really have a lot to say about this one, other than that I remember buying it... and the Anakin minifigure became one of my favourites to play out adventures with. Maybe it's just the nostalgia talking, but I still find the simpler minifigure designs of this time period more appealing than the more detailed modern ones.

Also, here we see Lego - like every other company that produced SW products in the early 00s - learning from the mass overproduction of Episode I merchandise that was warming shelves for many years after, and only releasing, like, six sets in total for AotC xD

I love this set.

Everyone here has pretty much hit the nail on the head as to why we've not seen a re-release of this scene in over 15 years. The first sets were released before the film, so at least Lego could claim ignorance of the subject matter (though at least a few designers probably knew the full details). But nowadays it'd be a hard sell. Aside from the conspicuous lack of a new Bounty Hunter Pursuit set, and Jango's Slave I, it makes sense that almost all the Ep. II remakes have been Geonosis-based.

By in United States,

Now we have the small legs LEGO needs to finally release the companion set, Anakin Schools the Younglings

By in United States,

Oh cool! I have this one. Back when SW LEGO was 'classic'.

By in United States,

CUT!
Um, hey George, do you think maybe we should shoot that again, but this time with good acting?
Nah, we'll fix it with SFX in post.

By in Puerto Rico,

Such a shame it hasn't been remade although knowing what happens in the film it is probably a no go, hope we get a Tie Bomber, Bounty Hunter Pursuit and an AT-ATC soon.

By in Brazil,

Finally a random set I owned. I'd totally buy a remake: you may hate Episode II but the scene where Anakin pilots the speeder in the sunset with Duel of the Fates on the background is just awesome. You know that nothing good will happen later...
