What a coincidence! I've recently been watching Rise of the snakes!
And....
Another vehicle!
Even though I don't care jack about Ninjago, Rattlecopter might be my favorite LEGO set name ever! And the design is pretty cool as well!
This is where Ninjago peaked: the great snake theme before they did a bazillion other snake themes.
The last thing I want to hear in an aircraft is rattling.
I still remember seeing this set on the shelves and thinking, "1x1 circular tiles? I've been wanting those for so long!" As an aside, Huwbot has a thing for Ninjago helicopters suddenly...
Love this set so much. All the snake vehicles are gorgeous and this is no exception. The bombing feature using those huge technic mudguard parts works flawlessly
I loved all the snakes. I didn't buy this helicopter, but I bought the big snake mecha, I thought that was cool.
And I tracked down the actual giant evil serpent on eBay, which was cool. It's a great build.

The newer snakes are cooler though.
Vehicle after vehicle after vehicle after vehicle after vehicle after-
ah, I still remember the excitement/confusion when I first saw that kid named Lloyd Garmadon...
Spinner crowns in the tailfin. Nice.
QUICK LORE!
The Fangpyre were a Serpentine tribe that could turn things into snakes by biting them. They bit a helicopter to turn it into a living flying machine.
QUICK LORE!
This was a cool set. Shout out to the NPU of using castle helmets for the cones in the center of each jet turbine.
I prefer the lobster-copter from Dark Knight Rises.

It is a well that they like going back to, isn't it?
First we had these snakes. Then we had Pythor's snakes. Then we had the time travelling snakes. Then the Egyptian fire mummy snakes, and then the orange constrictor snakes.
I haven't been keeping up with Ninjago. Have more snakes showed up yet?
We get a Ninjago minifigure and a set, on the same day!
And the Figure also happened to be in a helicopter set.
What a coincidence!

I totally agree with you!
Rise of the snakes is easily the best Ninjago season
And I really regret not getting this set, for Lloyd, ZX Kai, and the set itself. It's so cool.

Still haven't had snake-clowns. Yet.
I wanted this one back in the day, it's certainly one of the more interesting helicopters LEGO has put out from a design and thematic perspective.
Such a dub
This was a great theme of vehicles. Each is very well constructed and different. I copied one and trying to build a speeder around it but it's no easy task.
Just realized a missed opportunity; one of the ninjas should have said: "Snakes...why'd have to be snakes..."...:)
I should have this somewhere, the result of buying to much second hand bulk.
Rattlecopter and a minifig from Shuricopter. Today sure is a bit sus.

This being a helicopter, it could be a vehicle -over- vehicle, after vehicle. That’s…something of a combo breaker?

Oooh! Twisted Metal-like evil clown adversaries! That I'd like to see!
It seems like both RMotd and RSotD have come together today to celebrate Ninjago

yeah, I have 4 Pyro Vipers, 2 Chars, and non-Crystallised Aspheera, and they all have sick dual moulded head pieces
When it came out i found this too much of a departure from the sets from 2011 (looking back, the Skullkin vehicles are just as wacky). But now I appreciate how well this one has been designed. Sure, it's not practical (you just have to imagine the tail rotor and the man rotor is at a permanent angle).
But those blades work great, the fins to the side and engine pods look great, and the bombing function looks great. And although it's shared with other Serpentine vehicles, that snake head build is ingenious, especially for a set from 2012 before the wider range of SNOT brackets were debuted.
Even though these sets share many similarities to those from wave 1 Chima, this one just feels a bit more polished.
Which reminds me, in the show's lore it's hinted that the serpentine might be from Chima. (Which debuted the next year btw but th hints came later). Do with that information what you will.

"I hate snakes, Jaques! I hate 'em!!"
"Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?"
"Asps. Very dangerous.... You go first."
RSotD, RMotD, RPotD = lime lineup, chartreuse collection, green gang...
I'll stop, now.
Random set, minifig and part of the day all blue+green , Random , yeah...
My Rattlecopter goes SOI- Oh wait, wrong sound. Nevermind.

Yeah the Pyro Vipers were a cool faction NGL
But the Hands of Time was literally just "Hmm, we've already done snakes before, but what if for THIS wave, we do... drumroll please... TIME snakes?! That sounds unique and interesting, doesn’t it?"

You're forgetting the part that they are bunches of tiny snakes in the shape of people that can assemble and disassemble around armor at will, not to mention combine into larger armored forms.
If you ask me, they're quite unique and interesting even outside of Ninjago. Just not the most memorable personalities nor the best season they're featured in.
Here I go again (x2), trans-purple canopy, cool new accessories, use of the then-less-common lime green, and awesome designs all-around, this set had it all.
take the top off and it looks like a mean fish

Something like that is hard to tuna out, isn't it?
Also, everyone will be pleased to know that I'm making good on my promise and I've finished the Pilot Season of Ninjago.
It's pretty decent as far as LEGO shows go. The animation is kinda rough and the dialogue can be a little cheesy, but after watching Chima and Dreamzzz I've kinda come to expect that. Plus, the characters are strongly written and there's some pretty good music, action, and voice acting* as well.
Probably a 6/10 for me so far. Not great, but I can see why early 2000s kids enjoyed it. And if what I've heard is true, the next seasons will be a LOT better.
*Except Master Wu's voice. Great Gatsby, does it make me cringe.

Groan.... that pun stinks worse than week old halibut!
I did enjoy all the snakehead designs of the vehicles from Ninjago 2012. This was a fun set.

You'll probably start getting bored by s5 or 6 but push on through and the reboot will cheer you up!

Indeed, it's giving me a haddock. This is no plaice for puns like that, @Brickalili, you're a reel eel.
