We are very happy to welcome Vanessa B. as our Principal for Latin America, based in Mexico City. Latin America is one of the most important regions for producing both food and agricultural technology. Currently, Latin America receives only 5% of global investment in agtech, and we aim to change that. We have a thriving ecosystem in academia, science, research and development, with outstanding founders and fantastic funds. We are excited to add Vanessa as a key orchestrator to help organize and strengthen this ecosystem. We are proud to announce our follow-on investment in Gênica, totaling US$14 million, led by Mitsubishi Group, the esteemed Japanese conglomerate specializing in agrochemicals and fertilizers. Founded by Carlos Labate, a molecular biology researcher from Esalq-USP, and agricultural serial entrepreneur Fernando Reis, Gênica pioneers biotechnology solutions for the agricultural sector. Today, it stands proudly among Brazil's top five biologics companies, alongside global players like the Dutch Koppert and Brazilian firms Simbiose, Biotrop, and Vittia. With a remarkable revenue of R$ 130 million last year, Gênica anticipates a 70% increase to achieve R$ 230 million this year, demonstrating consistent positive EBITDA performance since 2019. This week was a very important one for our agfoodtech ecosystem. On Monday, we had the pleasure of organizing another edition of our event Harvesting Innovation, which aims to discuss innovation in the food system. In the 2024 edition, we hosted over 300 guests, including representatives from major agribusiness corporations, entrepreneurs, and investors. Additionally, we were honored to have distinguished panelists and speakers such as Alexandre Lahoz M. De Barros and Maurício Palma Nogueira. On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of sponsoring one of the world's largest agfoodtech events, the World Agri-Tech South America Summit. This year, important topics dominated the panels, such as climate-smart agriculture, scaling biologicals, digital farming platforms, biotechnology, farm-to-consumer traceability, agri-fintech, interoperability, and start-up investment. Among all these discussions, our managing partner Francisco Jardim, along with the head of R&D at Gênica, Gerson Marquesi (Safena) and the co-founder & CSO of Puna Bio, Elisa Violeta Bertini, had the opportunity to discuss innovation, sustainability, and market expansion within their biological companies. To conclude, on Wednesday, we also had the pleasure of sponsoring a breakfast for women in agribusiness in partnership with World Agri-Tech team to promote networking and important discussions on women's leadership, featuring inspiring women such as Silvia Massruhá, president at Embrapa.
