    Smart Hacklabs is an intensive program created by Smartapps in partnership with the Entrepreneurship Center of UNIFEI to support students creating new businesses using hardware and software integration based on the Smartapps platform.

    The first edition took place in October 2013 at the Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI). 30 students were divided in 6 groups including 2 engineers, 2 developers and 1 business student. They were invited to put their ideas into practice and give life to their imagination using one Arduino kit and the Smartapps platform to code and connect the hardware to the cloud. By the end of 2 weeks, they were supposed to present to the judges one MVP with a consistent business model focused on solving a relevant problem. We had very strong teams with projects in the different areas: energy, telecommunication, health, retail, geo-localization for car insurance and agriculture. All teams were successful creating a high impact business based on Smartapps platform that proposed a great value for improving processes and optimizing the use of resources in the Brazilian industry.
