How to combine the approach of a Venture Studio with an Accelerator to create impact ventures? (Or: What is Brainforest actually doing?) 🚀🌴 At Brainforest, we're carving a unique path, focusing intensely on two pivotal areas: Regenerative Food Forests (our Foodlab - focussing on everything that grows in a forest that is not wood) and the vital domain of Biodiversity (our Biodiversity Lab). We're taking on these two areas through a dynamic dual-track approach. 1. Our internal Venture Studio process 👨🏻💻🌱 We are internal entrepreneurs (as in a typical Venture Studio) that don't just work on ideas but truly owning them. It's about rolling up our sleeves, diving into extensive research, ideation sessions that spark creativity, and iterating until we've crafted something truly impactful—a Minimum Viable Product that's ready to change the game. Our current sessions lead us to the directions of a B2B marketplace of forest products and mobile processing units for different agroforestry products. 2. Our Venture Program 👩🏽🌾🚀 The magic continues then in combination with our Venture Program. Think of it as an accelerator, but with a twist. It's hands-on, intimately sized cohorts, and the end goal isn't just mentorship—it's about co-founding ventures that make a real difference. Through this outside-in approach we are able to combine our internal experience with knowhow from the global crowd. We're not here to build a sprawling portfolio; we're here to dive deep, ensuring each venture we nurture has our undivided attention and commitment. We are currently in the middle of our 2nd program with a fantastic cohort: recelio, Muvuca Agroflorestal, Augusto Andrade and more. Ultimately, both routes converge toward a shared objective: creating new for impact, for profit ventures with strong founding teams that hold the majority shares of the new founded venture and receive continued support from us. All this is possible with our blended finance approach that is using philanthropic capital as catalyst for the first steps until impact capital can come in and bring the new ventures from 1-10. We are participating in the Regenerative Food Forest Venture Program because we want to learn from more experienced people in the startup ecosystem and collaborate with our peers. Our focus is, with the help of Brainforest, to establish a business model that has the potential to play a pivotal role in the transition of Brazil's food system to Regenerative Agroforestry. 2️⃣ What is your idea, and what makes it unique? Muvuca is an innovative platform that directly connects agroforestry farmers with urban consumers through a subscription model, eliminating traditional intermediaries and promoting regenerative agricultural practices. The platform empowers farmers financially and with technical knowledge while providing consumers access to high-quality agroforestry products in an equitable, transparent, and community-focused system. Muvuca's uniqueness lies in its holistic and innovative approach to transforming the agricultural supply chain, promoting regenerative practices, fostering community engagement, and creating a more equitable and transparent system for both farmers and consumers. 3️⃣ What was the most surprising insight for you on last weeks sessions on prototyping, customer interviews and the environmentalists perspective? The most surprising insight was that there are people out there with really good ideas and incredible personal and professional experience that want to collaborate together. Super exciting! 4️⃣ And lastly, what is your favorite forest food? Our favorite forest food is a native Brazilian fruit, Cupuaçu. Delicious!
