June 28 is International Pride Day, a day that commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising and that is marked by global celebration. At Arch, our goal is to create an inclusive culture where a variety of diverse opinions are heard and leveraged through teamwork and collaboration. One way this comes to life is through our Employee Networks. Arch's LGBTQ+ and Allies Employee Network has created a vibrant and active community. In just the first half of this year, the network shared ideas of what actionable allyship looks like, learned about ways to use volunteer time off to support local LGBTQ+ organizations, and shared stories from members that illuminated the importance of trans visibility and authenticity at work. #Pride

Carol Burgio-Jordan is the Manager of Servicing Operations for Arch Mortgage Insurance Company (Arch MI) in Walnut Creek, California.   She has worked in many different departments since her career journey began. She held positions in field operations, underwriting, contract underwriting, national underwriting and capital markets, excelling at them all before moving to servicing.   Carol came to Arch through the 2014 acquisition of CMG Mortgage Insurance. Having worked in mortgage insurance since 1984, it is undeniable that she brought a wealth of experience with her to Arch.   “Even though I’ve been doing this for so long, there are days when situations come out of the blue that I’ve never dealt with before,” Carol says. “Then it’s the challenge of figuring it out and finding solutions that benefit both our customer and Arch. I think that’s what I like best: Even after all these years, I’m still broadening my knowledge base. That’s fun, and it keeps me totally engaged.” 

At Arch, a continued focus on ESG factors remains core to our decision-making and inclusion of responsible investments in the portfolio. In the bustling world of construction, safety is a paramount concern. But quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) can sometimes take a backseat. Arch Insurance Group Inc.’s Risk Control team saw this as an opportunity to create a collaborative space for customers to gather and focus on continuous improvement and created an annual “Quality Peer Group Event” to do just that. Arch recently hosted its 2024 meeting in Austin, Texas. The inception of this event was born out of a simple yet pressing need: to fill a void in the space of QA/QC, ultimately reducing the probability of subcontractor default or general liability claims. At its core, the event embodies the essence of Arch's brand promise of "Enabling Possibility" — as it created a space where competitors set aside their differences and unite under common goals: to enhance quality, mitigate risks and drive positive outcomes for everyone involved. #WeEnablePossibility

Tomorrow is Juneteenth, a celebration of the formal end of slavery in the United States. To honor the holiday, Arch’s Black Professionals and Allies Employee Network hosted two events to explore freedom in a modern context.    The first was a event on “Freedom from Burnout and Stress” in which Clarence K. Jackson, Senior Learning and Development Training Manager at Arch Insurance Group Inc., shared strategies to maintain a work-life balance.    The second webinar brought together two U.S events: Juneteenth and June as National Homeownership Month. This event featured a “Homeownership 101” conversation with Carl Tyree, Chief Sales Officer for Arch Mortgage Insurance Company (Arch MI). During the discussion, Carl explored the value of owning a home, challenges to making homeownership affordable, how Arch MI assists in that process and practical steps individuals can take if they are interested in pursuing homeownership. He also discussed Black homeownership rates and the efforts aiming to increase those numbers. #Juneteenth #NationalHomeownershipMonth

The entire Arch family is saddened by the passing of former Chair and CEO Dinos Iordanou. In his nearly 15-year tenure as CEO, Dinos played an integral role in developing Arch into a market-leading company with a worldwide presence in insurance, reinsurance and mortgage insurance. He was full of life, incredibly generous and a role model for anyone seeking to make a lasting impact. Marc Grandisson, CEO of Arch Capital Group Ltd. said, “I, along with so many others, was upset to hear about Dinos’ passing. So much of Arch’s success over the past 20-plus years can be directly attributed to Dinos and his leadership. Not only was he an insurance industry legend, but his leadership, tenaciousness and larger-than-life personality influenced both me and the company in many ways. We’ve lost a great man. He will be deeply missed.”
