As we gear up for COP16, the first Biodiversity COP since adopting "The Biodiversity Plan: For Life on Earth”, we are proud to support our member Congope in training provincial leaders in Ecuador on their crucial role in global #biodiversity discussions. #COP16Colombia represents a pivotal moment where governments will assess our collective progress on global biodiversity goals and targets. With our online training session for COP16 and COP29 on #biodiversity and #climatechange, we hope to empower our Member Congope to amplify the inspiring voices of Ecuadorian provinces, sharing their extraordinary stories of #AmazonForest preservation in partnership with indigenous peoples and local communities. Together, we can make a difference.

Indeed, it was a unique highlight of Regions4 General Assembly! It’s truly inspiring to see the incredible work at the Primatology Center in Rio de Janeiro. Seeing the challenges primates face in their natural habitats and the care taken to ensure their survival highlights just how urgent our conservation efforts are. It's encouraging to know that some species have already been saved from extinction—proving that it is possible. By supporting and expanding these critical conservation programs, we can help prevent the loss of these irreplaceable species and ensure that future generations inherit a world as rich in wildlife as the one we have today! I also love the tribute at our General Assembly by naming the rooms after species from the Primatology Center, such as leão dourado and caxiu preto 😊 🐒 This thoughtful gesture not only honors these remarkable animals but also highlights the importance of our collective work to protect them! Obrigada INEA - Instituto Estadual do Ambiente Governo do Estado do Rio de Janeiro Thank you Jacqueline Abu for your outstanding organisation, enthusiasm and attention to detail, which made our experience a memorable one! #conservation #biodiversity #nature #futuregenerations #RiodeJaneiro #CPRJ #primatology #wildlife

I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the fascinating world of primates. The last day of the Regions4 General Assembly was a visit to the Primatology Center offered by our host, the State of Rio de Janeiro. This is an important center for primate research and conservation in the Atlantic Forest. The reserve is home to more than 1,200 animals of 36 different species, many of them threatened with extinction. This trip not only deepened my understanding of primatology but also reaffirmed how crucial conservation efforts are to protect these important animals. Observing the difficulties primates have in their natural environments and the creative solutions being used to secure their existence was eye-opening. Congratulations, CPRJ/INEA - Instituto Estadual do Ambiente, for your dedication to species conservation and your vital work. A huge thank you to the Rio de Janeiro team. Note: I took the opportunity and offered a tasting of exotic Brazilian fruits that are uncommon in some regions of the world. Details make experiences special. #primatology #conservation #fieldvisit #speciesprotection

"Leading by example remains the most powerful and convincing way to lead. This is why we are thrilled to welcome #Scotland and FM John Swinney as the new Regions4 President", says Natalia Uribe Pando, Secretary General of Regions4 👏👏. ➡️Did you know that Scotland has consistently been at the cutting edge of #climate and #biodiversity initiatives, aimning for #netzero emissions by 2045, five years ahead of the UK target? As a pioneer in #greenenergy, Scotland generates significant electricity from renewable sources like wind and hydro power. Scotland is also leading in #climateadaptation, implementing strategies to make communities and ecosystems more resilient to climate impacts. Scotland's proactive measures to tackle Loss and Damage and support the #GlobalSouth in facing climate impacts have deeply inspired Regions4. This dedication highlights Scotland's exemplary role in #climatejustice, showing a clear and strong commitment to ensuring that no vulnerable community is overlooked in the journey towards a #sustainablefuture. We trust that #Scotland will excel in leading Regions4's collective efforts, promoting regional collaboration and nurturing a future with people and nature at its core🤝 📝 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eS3GD_Rj

Exciting News from Governo do Estado do Paraná 🌍 Paraná is making history as the first subnational government to adopt biodiversity credits, aiming to offset the environmental impacts caused by businesses and industries through actions that benefit the State's Conservation Units. This innovative initiative, developed in collaboration with LIFE Institute, will be presented at the UN Biodiversity #COP16, in Cali, Colombia, this October. According to Rafael Andreguetto, Director of Environmental Policies at the State Secretariat for Sustainable Development (Sedest), the program targets 25 Private Natural Heritage Reserves (RPPNs) in Paraná, with plans to expand to municipal, state, and federal parks. The goal is to have the legal framework ready and operational by 2025. This pioneering policy marks a significant step towards sustainable development and environmental conservation. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach #COP16! #BiodiversityCredits #Sustainability #EnvironmentalImpact #Paraná #COP16 #Conservation #SustainableDevelopment #InnovationInPolicy
