Today is World Hepatitis Day!🧪🔬 The global theme for this year is “It’s Time For Action", emphasising the urgent need to find better preventions, treatments and cures for viral hepatitis. Associate Professor Thomas Tu from WIMR’s Storr Liver Centre is dedicated to curing Hepatitis B, stopping liver cancer, and getting care to the people who need it. Thomas was diagnosed with Hepatitis B at age 14 and is not only searching for a cure for Hepatitis B, but also advocating for the Hepatitis B community. Thomas was frustrated by the lack of resources and support networks for people with Hepatitis B, so he was one of the creators of "Hepatitis B Voices Australia," an independent non-profit organisation, and a website called "HepBcommunity.org" to advocate and support those affected by the disease. If you know someone who is affected by viral hepatitis, please encourage them to call the National Hepatitis Infoline for free at 1800 437 222 (1800 HEP ABC), or Join HepBCommunity.org: https://bit.ly/3D7GMBu (free and anonymous).
