Jim Rohn once said "Effective communication is 20% what you know and 80% how you feel about what you know.” Well, I feel deeply about road safety and I am always delighted to speak about it to any audience. It was great to be the keynote speaker for the School Officers Conference on the Gold Coast yesterday. Thank you to Marg Booth and the team at Great Expectations for arranging my speaking appearance.

Another outstanding Learner Driver Night at Queensland Raceway last night. I am honoured to be able to play a small role in these events and represent Supercheap Auto. I continue to be impressed by the dedication of the police and emergency services to make these nights happen and their commitment to making a difference. A positive and valuable experience for new drivers and their supervisors!! The next one of these will be the 11th of April. Super!! Check our socials for more details.

Situational awareness is critical on the road. But, it's even more so around school zones..The latest research from AAMI shows some alarming findings on just how badly we need to improve in this area. Remember to keep scanning the road ahead and be extra careful in school zones....all the time. https://lnkd.in/gyKzrNyk

Thanks again to the team #theproject for continuing to keep road safety on the national media agenda. It has been the deadliest 12 months on Australia’s roads since 2018, with 1,253 lives lost in the 12 months to November 30. As road users, we are the ones that can change these terrible statistics. Let's all lift our standards and performance on the roads. #chooseroadsafety See the full story at https://lnkd.in/gWmu5Axw

  • Interesting and alarming reading here....

Reduced travel on Victoria’s roads during the COVID-19 pandemic did not equate to proportionate reductions in road trauma. A MUARC Report shows that while total travel on the state's roads decreased between 30% to 60% during 2020-2021, there was an increase in risk-taking behaviours such as speeding and drink- and drug-driving. It's a great honor to be working with the team at Crown Resorts, their CEO Ciarán Carruthers and five-time MotoGP Champion, Mick Doohan to deliver a new internal road safety training program for Crown's team. Crown and Driver Safety Australia have partnered to develop a 12-month road safety workforce initiative. The program was launched in Melbourne last week as a part of National WorkSafe Month and Motorcycle Awareness Month in Victoria and New South Wales. The partnership forms part of Crown’s health, safety and wellbeing vision to have its people bring their best selves to work, thrive and go home safely. The ‘In Motion, Together’ program has been designed to equip Crown’s team members with the knowledge and skills to be safer road users. A series of online training modules and education materials will also be provided to Crown’s 23,000-strong workforce. Vehicle-related trauma is the number one cause of workplace deaths nationwide , which is why having businesses like Crown raise the standard of training and education in the workplace needs to be applauded. Crown Resorts CEO Ciarán Carruthers said ‘In Motion, Together’ represented a critical pillar of the company’s overall workplace health, safety and wellbeing strategy. “The welfare of every Crown team member is of paramount importance to us, not just when they're on the job or travelling to and from work, but in every aspect of their personal lives as well,” Mr Carruthers said. “We believe that as an organisation, Crown has a responsibility to go above and beyond in our efforts to protect our team members while also providing a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate. I want to commend Crown Resorts for taking proactive action in protecting its people and for driving positive change across the communities in which they live, work and play. I hope that other organisations are inspired by Crown’s leadership and look to replicate this innovative approach.
