🚧 Toad Containment Zone 🚧 Researchers led by Curtin University Professor Ben Phillips has begun work on a Toad Containment Zone. Supported by the State Government and AMEC, a newly created 150-kilometre barrier aims to potentially safeguard 27 million hectares of land, protecting the Pilbara from the sweeping invasion of cane toads. This is the first stretch where the desert meets the ocean and provides a natural barrier to preserve the unique biodiversity and resources of Western Australia. An initiative called on by AMEC, given how crucial this region is for the resource industry. It ensures that not only mining and exploration activities, but environment and cultural heritage areas can continue to thrive without the ecological disruptions caused by these invasive pests. Minister for the Environment Reece Whitby said, “This initiative aims to create a containment zone to protect our environment, cultural heritage, and key industries from these pests." ⚠️For more ➡️http://toadfree.zone/ #CaneToadPrevention #WesternAustralia #ResourceIndustry #EnvironmentalProtection #SustainableMining #BiodiversityProtection #CulturalHeritage #EcoFriendlyInitiative #IndustryImpact #PilbaraProtection #AMECsupport 📷 Credit Professor Ben Phillips
