  • Meet Manya, In 2022, we featured Manya in our campaign titled "Women Who Entered the Sector Through Entry-Level Roles." Now, two years later, we're excited to follow her journey and see where her career has taken her. Manya began her career in a vacation student role. From that, she had the opportunity to take a graduate role at AngloGold Ashanti Australia Tropicana, where she rotated through production and planning for a year and a half. She now works in short-term planning, focusing on 1–3-month time frames for the open pit. We asked Manya if the transition from her previous job outside of the sector was difficult. She said: “My transition into mining was a huge step, perhaps due to the change from geophysics, but predominantly due to moving from Colorado to Kalgoorlie. However, with the opportunity to start vacation work within 6 months of commencing mining engineering, I had a great introduction to the sector through truck driving in the open pit. The most difficult thing to transition into was perhaps the radio slang; it’s a whole different language!” Thanks for sharing, Manya! She said discipline is required to keep downward pressure on operating and key input costs such as energy, to enhance productivity. Read on: https://ow.ly/f5iw50SETiJ
