We loved out stay at Cairns Novotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was neat and clean. A highlight was the pool. Our kids loved it. The beach section is such a great feature. If I can flaw a couple of things which aren’t hugely major they would be the birds on the outdoor area. We ordered food which was delivered to our table which we weren’t at at the time, the pigeons got to it before we did and made a lovely mess as they devoured our food. Thankfully it was replaced for us. My other issue is the fragrance in the main foyer area. It’s quite powerful and I could even small it outside. The location is great. I wish we’d discovered the back gate entrance sooner as it made getting to the esplanade a little quicker. The buffer breakfast was great, catering to kids and adults. I liked the different options available for now eggs were cooked. My kids loved the pancake station. Overall a really great stay. If we’re ever able to we will be back.

The staff were all very friendly and keen to help. We arrived very early before check-in time and were given towels and allowed to use the pool until we could check in. As we were only staying one night this helped us make the most of our time. Food and drinks were good. The room was clean and adequate but nothing special. Could have done with a toaster!

Just nice

Perfectly adequate hotel in a great location. Check in wasn't particularly quick as we had to wait for people to do the very odd towel for a token swap thing. The bedroom was nice and quiet but the view out the window wasn't inspiring looking over the closed pub and backpackers. We enjoyed happy hour before dinner and sitting in the pool area was nice. Parking costs were reasonable and meant the car stayed cool.

Fantastic place to stay with or without kids

Well situated to walk to the Esplanade and central shopping area and restaurants Fabulous lagoon pool with sand for the kids , though the pool was blooming freezing...staff friendly and helpful. Room 502 gets a bit of noise from the lift and overlooks front if hotel. But no real noise issues We had breakfast by the pool several times and dinners too. Can't fault the food or the service. Room was serviced daily.

Nice staycation

Overall a nice overnight staycation, room is nice but pretty standard. Balcony was a little small on the Garden View rooms. I pre paid the accommodation, and emailed receipts prior to arrival which had been acknowledged - but then on arrival, Reception tried charging me the full amount again which was a little embarrassing. I was also overcharged for an extra bowl of chips by the pool. The atmosphere by the pool was nice, drinks were good too. Appreciated the Reservation Team’s assistance prior to my arrival.
