APIS provides resources designed to assist researchers studying alcohol availability and sales during the COVID-19 pandemic, including a narrative Digest, a downloadable Dataset (with Codebook), and a link to a Surveillance Report presenting data on alcohol sales during the pandemic.

This narrative compilation reports on selected alcohol-related policies relating to the COVID-19 pandemic across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The primary focus is the availability of beverage alcohol during the emergency. APIS presents data from the onset of the pandemic through the lifting of emergency policies.

Dataset of State Alcohol-Related Laws During the COVID-19 Emergency for On-Premise and Off-Premise Establishments as of January 1, 2022

This statistical Dataset provides downloadable data on selected alcohol-related policies enacted by states in an attempt to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. As with the Digest, coverage is provided for all 50 states and the District of Columbia, with a focus on the availability of beverage alcohol during the emergency. APIS presents data from the onset of the pandemic through the lifting of emergency policies. A Codebook (PDF, 264.82 KB) describing the variables covered in the Dataset is also provided.

Alcohol Sales During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Data on per capita alcohol sales during the COVID-19 pandemic have been collected by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism's Division of Epidemiology and Prevention Research, Alcohol Epidemiologic Data System.
