The Orioles have hired former Mariners President of Business Operations Catie Griggs to the same role in Baltimore.

Griggs will be the first woman to hold that title for the Orioles just as she was the first to lead any MLB club’s business department when the Mariners hired her in July 2021. She is expected to begin in Baltimore on Aug. 19, where she will work for David Rubenstein, Michael Arougheti and the rest of the new ownership group, Charm City Sports Partners.

“I am genuinely thrilled to be joining the Orioles organization. Supporting this storied franchise, the city of Baltimore, and our passionate fans is an incredible honor,” Griggs said in a statement. “I look forward to contributing to the team’s success both on and off the field.”

“It is our belief that Oriole fans and the Baltimore community will benefit from the unique experience and perspective that Catie brings,” Arougheti added. “That experience will be especially valuable as we begin work to reimagine Oriole Park at Camden Yards.”

Griggs, a 2022 SBJ Forty Under 40 honoree and 2017 Game Changers honoree, recently resigned from her post in Seattle, citing a desire to be closer to family on the East Coast. Before that she was the Chief Business Officer for Atlanta United in MLS and an executive with Futures Sport + Entertainment and Turner Broadcasting. Griggs received both her undergraduate degree and MBA from Dartmouth.

Under Griggs in Seattle, T-Mobile Park hosted the 2023 MLB All-Star Game and the 2024 NHL Winter Classic, becoming the first venue to hold both events within a year. Collectively, they drove more than $80M in revenue for the city of Seattle and reached more than 300,000 fans, according to a release announcing her hire in Baltimore.

Elevate Talent worked with the Orioles to place the role.
