Silva joins SeventySix Capital to lead advisory arm

Carlos Silva was most recently CEO of C360.SeventySix Capital

SeventySix Capital has brought on longtime sports executive Carlos Silva as a partner in the firm and as president of its consultancy division, SeventySix Capital Sports Advisory.

Silva was most recently the CEO of former SeventySix portfolio company C360, the maker of the NFL’s PylonCam. He departed the firm in April 2023, a few months after its acquisition by Cosm, but stayed in touch with SeventySix founder and managing partner Wayne Kimmel, who was on C360’s board. The pair wound up speaking weekly over the past year, which eventually led to Silva being invited to join SeventySix.

“I didn’t want to jump into something as a senior staff person. It was exciting for me to be a partner,” Silva said. “I’ve spent most of my career raising money, and building out some startups and early-stage sports properties. Now I’m looking at all of those [types of companies] sitting at the table with them, and hopefully we can help some of those companies with media, tech, production, operations and all the things I’ve done over the last 25 years.”

Silva previously held leading executive roles at World TeamTennis, the Professional Fighters League, investment bank Park Lane and NBC’s Universal Sports network, among others. Kimmel said that sort of wide-ranging experience will be invaluable to SeventySix’s advisory arm.

“His extensive experience in the sports world, the fact that he has such deep industry relationships and just knows how to get things done, are really attractive assets that we are able to bring to some of our current clients,” said Kimmel, who noted Silva recently joined him on a trip to Miami for a meeting with the World Jai-Alai League, a SeventySix advisory client. “Just having Carlos in the conversation has enabled us to really start to think about how we expand that relationship. … He’s run leagues, so he’s done this before.”

SeventySix Capital Sports Advisory was launched in 2020 to complement SeventySix’s core venture investing practice; advisory clients have included the Edmonton Oilers, eMLS and Playfly Sports. Silva will be actively involved on both sides of the firm. He replaces former advisory president Dan Bravato, who Kimmel said departed SeventySix to pursue a new venture.

Silva, who officially started in late June, will be based outside of Washington, D.C. Kimmel noted that provides better geographical coverage for the Philadelphia-based investment firm, and he suggested more executive additions may be on the way.

“It allows us to really expand and scale SeventySix Capital, and we hope Carlos is the first of many new senior partners we can attract and bring to our team in the future,” Kimmel said.
