The USOPC will extend CEO SARAH HIRSCHLAND's contract for five years, ensuring her tenure through the L.A. Games in 2028. USOPC board chairman GENE SYKES announced the extension in a staff town hall yesterday. Hirshland has been CEO since August 2018, leading the USOPC through Congressional inquiries, lawsuits and reforms following sexual abuse scandals at several national governing bodies (Rachel Axon, SBJ).

Unrivaled Basketball named former WTA President MICKY LAWLER Commissioner. Lawler, a member of SBJ’s 2023 Champions class, assumed the WTA role in 2015 and left at the end of last year. Before that, she was Octagon’s Managing Dir/Tennis & Global Initiatives from 1998-2014. In her new role, Lawler’s responsibilities will encompass oversight and leadership of Unrivaled’s entire business alongside league President ALEX BAZZELL. Unrivaled conducted the search that led to Lawler’s hiring in-house. Lawler will be based in Miami during the season (Rob Schaefer, SBJ).

USA Lacrosse named Amazon Music Head of Brand Research and Insights DWANE MORGAN Chief of Staff/Business Intelligence. He is the first to serve in the newly created position. Morgan was a SVP for MarketCast and also served multiple roles with both Under Armour and Converse (USA Lacrosse).

The WTA named former World No.1 player GARBIÑE MUGURUZA WTA Finals Riyadh Tournament Dir. She becomes the first former player to spearhead the WTA Finals, which she won in 2021. Starting with this year’s edition, Muguruza will work with the WTA, the Saudi Tennis Federation and the Ministry of Sport to oversee strategic planning and delivery of the event for the next three years (2024-26). In particular, she will work to grow the profile of tennis across the Middle East (WTA).
