Washington State promotes Anne McCoy to full-time AD

Washington State Univ. interim AD Anne McCoy was "rewarded" with the full-time job yesterday, according to Greg Woods of the Spokane SPOKESMAN-REVIEW. McCoy becomes the "first woman to hold the position." In May, she announced that she "expected WSU to name a permanent athletic director in the fall,” but “made it clear she was a candidate." WSU President Kirk Schulz -- who said that the school would “conduct a national search for his replacement -- went with the in-house option.” In the past three months since replacing former AD Pat Chun, McCoy “secured a home” for WSU’s baseball and women’s swimming teams through affiliate membership with the Mountain West Conference for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons and helped the Pac-12 Conference “secure a media rights agreement” with The CW Network and Fox for the 2024 football season. McCoy served a “variety of roles” on the senior administrative team since arriving in 2001 (Spokane SPOKESMAN-REVIEW, 6/25).
