Franchise Notes

ESPN.com’s Adrian Wojnarowski cites sources that former Pistons GM Troy Weaver is joining the Wizards front office as senior advisor. Weaver, who spent four years in Detroit, reunites with Monumental Sports/Wizards President Michael Winger and GM Will Dawkins -- with whom Weaver worked for more than a decade as part of the Thunder's basketball leadership. Sources said that the deal with the Wizards will allow Weaver to “onboard with the organization ahead of this week's NBA Draft and the league's upcoming free agency” (ESPN.com, 6/24).

SURPASSING THE MARK: In Baltimore, Allentuck & Morton noted the Orioles had 1,936,798 people attend their 81 regular-season home games last year, now they are “on track to beat that easily.” After selling out the last three games of their last homestand against the Phillies, the team has “surpassed 1 million fans after just 38 home games.” Allentuck & Morton adds if this continues, the Orioles’ attendance “will be over 2 million for the first time since 2017.” The Orioles have seen the second-largest increase in attendance this season, behind only the D-backs -- who, like the Orioles, went from posting a 100-loss season to making the playoffs last year (BALTIMORE BANNER, 6/24).
